Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Machine sews only in reverse

Be sure you are in the correct stitch pattern...if you are on a buttonhole stitch or a stretch stitch it normal for the machine to sew backwards. Be sure your length is to the right of 0 and not in a strtch stitch model or buttonhole mode.

SOURCE: need help to thread our sewing machine.

you really must get a manual for this machine.
You can find manuals online for a small price.
At one time some sites had them for free, but I haven't been able to find many recently. sewusa.com has some older ones for free. but not many. you could try the kenmore site as well, if not I'd try to search on dogpile.com (sewing machine manuals)
Just so you know, your manual is the MOST important tool for any sewing machine, and its worth a couple of bucks to get it.

SOURCE: turns on does not work

It probably has a bad circuit board, I don't think they are available though.
Sorry!

SOURCE: serger

As long as this is a sewing machine and not a serger, I don't know about them. I only tinker on my own. Remove the bottom. There is a rod running along the length of the machine. it needs to be turned 180 degrees. You may need to retime the machine.

SOURCE: Will not sew in reverse.

sometimes it is the spring, open the machine up and take a look at the spring, it may be broken or stretched. It should be located right where the reverse lever is, inside.

Sounds like your machine is experiencing a failure of a computer component. Suggest service or, if cost prohibitive, looking for a new machine.

Needle keeps unthreading???? HELP!!!

Ok... so now that you have the length of thread the proper length to start a seam. Are you holding the threads when you start to sew?

Is your needle the proper size for your thread and project?...
Also check the throat plate (where the needle goes through to the bobbin) is it in good shape... or does it show stab marks from the needle? If it shows stab marks.... it could be damaged an may need replaced.

I advise putting your project away and only using scrap pieces to sew on until you get this issue resolved.

Kenmore 15516 It only goes reverse both ways.

Does it have an automatic buttonhole? If so, is the pattern selector set on part of the buttonhole? set it to straight stitch or Zig Zag

Button holer

Refer to step 5 in the instruction book. Turn the stich selector to the reverse arrow and back to the buttonhole symbol. This re-sets the machine.
