Question about Pinnacle Pool & Spa

Open Question

I have a model PE-20 pinnacle systems spa tub. The problrm is that the palstic threads that the black lock ring thread onto to hold the filter assembly into place are corroded and broken. Due to the immense water pressure generated in the assembly, water is able to escape through the rings and "bubble" up and leak out of the tub's shell. I've tried repairing the broken/corroded rings with silicone, but there is too much water pressure. It seems that I will have to replace the entire canister that houses the filter assembly which I am hesitant to do because it is encased in spray foam insulation and hard-piped in with high-pressure PVC pipe. Is this my only option? Thanks-

SOURCE: tub spout. Moen

Hi handie Man,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: Just bought a new tube spout to repalce my old one. The new spout same as the old, very common spout.. the inside of the spout has a (white) PVC threaded pipe in it with a smaller tube inside that as a O-ring in it.. You tried to unscrew annoying pipe but it wont budge.. and you dont want to ruin it incase you end up returning it. You think its just a reciver for a 1/2 inch copper pipe (which will fit).

That is exactly what it is. You've purchased a universal spout which requires a 1/2" copper pipe coming out of the wall. If you're not up to changing to that, take the old one to a plumbing supply. If you're lucky they might have a direct replacement.

SOURCE: How to remove the corroded valve seat housing in my tub faucet

Some seats ae rremovable and some or not Some take a hex(allen) wrench and some take a square (seat removal tool)  Most of us use a seat grinder. (another tool to dress up the seat (Remove material) past the seat damage. You will find any of these tools at any hardware store that sells plumbing parts. If the seats have a square or hex hole remove and replace rather that grind(dress)the seat. All right hand threads meaning turn counter clock wise to remove. Take old seat to the American Standard plmbing supply outlet and then will match it up. Good fix-in to ya.

SOURCE: GE Profile water filter housing leaks

Hi there is a grommet you can replace.
#WR02X10678 it is about $7.00 It can help seal the plug sometimes. Ge does want you to buy the whole filter assembly it is number
#WR17X11618 $51.50 . You may also consider putting a new filter in. It seals better than the plug it is number
#gwf $42.95. I dont know why they dont sell a o-ring kit. I guess they just dont make much money on o-rings. I hope this will help you. Have a nice day.

SOURCE: inlet pvc pipe broke off and is in face. is pvc threaded or not?

Get a screwdriver (or something strong like that) that is the diameter of the pipe only. Use a torch to heat it up and then press it into the pvc...might take a couple times to get a good indent, and then turn....it is threaded 3/4" pvc....some installers will actually glue this fitting in the pump - which render it unuseable in this situation....

HOW TO PUT Fotodiox 49mm Filter Thread Macro Reverse Mount Adapter Ring for Sony E-series

The ring threads onto the front of any lens with a 49mm filter thread, just like a filter. The front of the lens then fits onto a camera body, effectively mounting the lens "backwards" or reversed. With most lenses, this allows the lens to focus very close, for close-up or "macro" photography.

What size o rings do I need for the pump on my 2000 coast spa?

Hi,

If you're talking about the O-rings that are on the pump unions you will need to measure your pump.

Measure the diameter of the thread on the pump...
1.5": Pump thread measures approx. 2-3/8" O.D.
2.0": Pump thread measures approx. 3" O.D.
2.5": Pump (intake) thread measures approx. 3-5/8" O.D.

Any reputable hot tub dealer should be able to supply you with O-rings if you tell them what size unions your pump has. The most common is 2".

Kind Regards,
Ian.

How do you replace a flow switch in a spa, or hot tub

turn off the power to the spa. remove the cabinet under the topside remote to expose the equipment compartment. You should see the flow switch, it's usually a threaded 3/4" plug with a single grey wire coming out of it. Most of them are threaded into a tee or a special transparent fitting. If the water level in the spa is above the flow switch, you may have to drain the spa down unless you're very fast about getting the new switch in. Unthread the old switch and thread the new one in. Follow the wire on the old one to the spa pack. You'll have to remove the screws on the cover to expose the circuit board. Follow that wire into the spa pack to see where on the circuit board that it is plugged in. It may be good to run the new wire to have in place as soon as you unplug the old one you can install the new one with no question as to where it plugs in.

Reinstall the cover on the spa-pack and turn the main power back on. Make sure that the arrows on the new flow switch are facing the correct direction (direction of flow). Once you have the spa on and it starts back up, run everything to check for leaks and proper operation. If the flow switch was the only problem, all your faults should be cleared and you should be in good shape. If there are no leaks, you can reinstall the cabinet panel.

The new switch should already have teflon tape on the threads, if not, use teflon tape, apply the tape in the direction as if you were threading a nut onto the threads. You only need a few wraps of teflon tape, too much can crack the fitting you threat the new flow switch in to.

How do I reassemble Kenmore model 110.29842991 Need a parts manue

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.29842991

See the Agitator and Tub section.

Basically lower the main agitator onto the transmission drive shaft. (Be sure that the two pronged "washer" and clip are on the shaft).

2. Screw the double threaded bolt (with a rubber washer on the bottom) into the agitator shaft

3. Carefully lower the top agitator onto the lower one and screw the 1/2" (probably plastic) bolt onto the double threaded bolt.

4. Put the cap on

5. Put the fabric softener unit on and push down on the locking ring.

I need to know if I can replace our jacuzzi air switch from the outside of tub or do I need to remove tile to get to it. I cannot reach the switch from the access panel

depends on if you can get to the air button body. if you can get to it without removing the tile then you can change the button. Sounds to me like you might need to remove the tile to get to the button body because the button body is threaded with a nut threaded onto it to hold the body in place.

Daughters 2000 sportage has a bad oil leak in the filter area but it isnt the filter it looks like it is coming from the piece the filter screws onto but the filter is sealing correctly.

First, make sure there isn't an old filter "o" ring stuck to the filter adapter. Sometimes when removing the old filter, the "o" ring stays, and this will leak oil, after installing the new one, as you will have two "o" rings together.
If this is OK, then inspect the adapter for cracks, or bad threads. The adapter is what your filter threads onto, and this is replacable.
