Question about Baby Lock Ellure

Open Question

I have a BabyLock ellegante. I am using a walking foot to quilt in the ditch. I am using Madeira invisible thread in needle and a Madeira bobbinfill in bobbin. The problem is that the machine keeps starting and stopping. As soon as it sews several stitches, it stops and does not respond to the foot pedal for several seconds. The constant starting and stopping has me crazy. What is wrong?

I think you might have better luck if you use 40 or 50 weight thread.

SOURCE: thread gets caught on bobbin and jams

You may need a new bobbin case if your machine is an older model.. Over time the cases get nicks in them causing thread to catch on it. Have you lubricated the bobbin area? Needs one drop of oil for every ,I believe it is 25 hours of usage. That may take care of it. The oil goes under the bobbin right in the center of bobbin case. Remove your bobbin before applying the oil. i hope this helps you. Good Luck

SOURCE: on a babylock elegante the bobbin thread shows,

Have you reset the tensions for this machine, look in your manual and follow directions. If this is an Elegante there is also a set of instructions on the machine. On the LCD screen there is a picture of a sewing machine with a question mark, touch it, find Troubleshooting and touch that then find the problem you are having and read. If this does not help take it to a Brother dealer and have it reset so as to keep you machine in good running order.

SOURCE: Needle Thread breaking after about 30 seconds of quilting

Are you threading it correctly? I've had this problem twice, the first few times the thread was wrapped around different items (below the spool holder and then around the needle) the other times I threaded it wrong. Double check that the machine is threaded correctly with the manual. I've missed a step here or there and it does make a difference.

Machine well not work with the quilting foot what can I do

Basic Tips for All
  1. Always turn the handwheel TOWARDS you (counter clockwise) as turning it in the opposite direction (away from you, clockwise) may knock the timing out requiring repair from a service center.
  2. Always be sure your presser foot is in the DOWN position before sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will cause your thread to tangle and your bobbin to jam.
  3. Change needles regularly (after 16 hours of use) as dull/weak needles can cause damage to your machine and fabric. Only use SINGER needles on your SINGER sewing machine.
  4. Always be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look very similar. However, using the incorrect bobbin class in your machine can cause damage.

I am using my walking foot to stitch in the ditch my quilt. The foot is not pulling my fabric through consistently.

The quilted fabric may be too thick for the walking foot to move along smoothly. Try using a zipper foot which is much slimmer and can get close to the line of stitching.

I draw a line on the fabric with a sharpened bar of soap. then hold the fabric as far away from the needle as you can. It will help you stay straight.

Brother cs6000i thread tension issue

Logically, the top thread should not be affected by a walking foot as the thread operates independently of the presser foot.

Suggest removing the top thread totally from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct.

Check that your walking foot is installed correctly--the fork-shaped piece needs to encircle the needle clamp screw.

If you continue to experience problems with the walking foot but none of the other feet, recommend contacting a Brother technician.

Needle thread breaks while quilting on machine frame

My friend and I both have the Juki 98Q but on different frames - we were both having problems (needles breaking, thread getting tangled) we removed the thin metal thing inside the bobbin case and have had no problems since (over a year now!).

Skipping stithes

Try practicing on a test piece before moving on to the quilt. Batik fabric is beautiful! I would check the thread size and needle. I tried quilting with invisible thread and had the same problem. The minute I changed to 50 wt.thread and a new needle the problem disappeared. I've found that 40 or 50 wt. thread works best on my Janome.

Skipped stitches and noises

sounds like there might be some threads caught between the tension discs. Try using a small strip of fabric to 'floss' between them. You might also have some thread caught in the hook assembly.
