Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other problems. Make sure that you have fresh fuel mix in the tank (50:1 ratio). Mix the fuel/oil in it's own container and shake the container thoroughly just before adding to the tank each time to prevent oil starvation. When you were cleaning the carburetor, did you check the condition of the lower diaphragm for flexibility with no holes or cracks? Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back each out CCW 1-1/2 turns. Start the engine and allow to warm up, then pull the throttle full on. Adjust the H jet needle CW until the engine starts to speed up. Proper adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L jet needle CW for better idle, but allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Hope this helps!

My husqvarna 350 chainsaw starts but wont stay running for more than a few seconds

Eric:

Find the gas/air adjustment screws on the carb (next to the the throttle cam where the throttle cable attaches. Turn the screws in all the way... GENTLY... Those are needle valves, and too much torque on them will damage the needle valve seats. turn both of them out one and a quarter to one and a half turns. Start the saw, and adjust one or the other screw in or out until the saw runs properly. If there is a plastic stop installed on the screws, remove it first, and replace it after the saw is running properly. You have to be patient while tuning the carb as it may take a while. If you adjust too much and the saw refuses to start at all, start over with the 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns out on the screws.

Sounds like dirt in the carb. Pull carb apart and spray out real well with gum cutter or carb and choke spray. Be sure to remove the needle valve and rinse all holes and ports. Use COPPER wire, like a strand from automotive or speaker wire to run through each hole. rinse everything a few times

Hi,
If it is only running high at full choke - then it is not getting enough fuel.
You've cleaned out the whole thing - so it's not air that's the problem. It's running - so it's not a spark problem - it's a fuel problem.

If you have a fuel filter - change it out or clean it properly. If the fuel line is clear, then you need to adjust the running setting of the carb - there are usually 2 setting knobs -one for idle - one for running / mix.
You need it running richer till you get it going - then trim it back to stop it smoking and get a good rev.

Husqvarna 55 chainsaw won't stay running.

It has a crack in the fuel line between the body and the tank. The crack lets air in the line. Replace the line.

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes.
