Question about Uniden FRS1400 2-Way Radio

I have a set of Uniden FRS 1400 walkie talkies and there is no power. I am sure it is the batteries, but cannot figure out how to change them.

There's a little flip tab at the bottom of the radio that holds the back battery door on. Flip this off the back door & lift up on the bottom of the back door then slip it down off the radio. The batteries should now be exposed. If you were using Alkaline batteries you can use a Q-tip and white vinegar to clean off any battery residue & then try new batteries.

Use a audiovox walkie talkie

What is your question about using the walkie talkie? These are standard FRS low power walkie talkies. You need to set both to the same channel. Turn both on. Push the transmit button and speak into the microphone which is on the face of the radio. You should hear the voice in the other walkie talkie.

Note; all of these FRS talkies have substantially less range than advertised. They should provide reliable service within about 1/4 mile line of sight, no more. In an urban environment with lots of buildings you will get less.

I've lost the instructions for changing the channel on the our Hello Kitty KT2022 walkie talkie. It would seem simple (obviously someone played around with it and figured it out) but we can't seem...

To change the channel on the Hello Kitty KT2022 Walkie-Talkie:
-Tap the power button. The channel will blink.
-Use up/down arrows.
-Tap the power button again to save the channel selection.
The entire manual can be downloaded from here:

What channel should i set my motorolla walkie talkie to get the best distance? It seem not to wok beyond 1/4 mile on channel 3.

You didn't mention a model number, so I don't know if your radio is an FRS or FRS/GMRS model. GMRS channels have more power output than FRS does, but GMRS also requires a license for operation. Other than that, the frequencies are so close together that there is no distance advantage gained by changing channels. The manufacturer's distance claims on these radios are pure advertising gimmicks - the radios are line-of-sight only, so if there's anything between the transmitter and receiver, the signal will not get through.
