SOURCE: How do I clean the contact points between kettle and platform?

I had the same problem before mine broke completely (see my problem posted today). The problem seems to be the support that holds the center pin inside the control. I have not been able to fix mine. Now it is totally broken and Cusinart has been no help. How old is your unit? Cuisinart told me that there is a 3 year warranty. Give them a call. They can decide based on the serial number whether they will cover it.

SOURCE: Kettle Keeps jolting out of place

Popcorn popper is approximately three weeks old and now the popcorn clogs up in the hopper (cooker pot), the gear quits turning, and we have to pry the popcorn out. It worked perfectly when we first got it and now it is nothing but a pain to use. We tried several popcorns, cooking oils and amounts of oils, but the problem continues. I noticed the small spring located on the lower shaft doesn't cover the entire shaft. Is it supposed to be longer? Your prompt reply for a solution would be greatly appreciated or we will have to return the unit to our local retailer where we purchased it.

You need to talk to Cuisinart (follow this link to their contact us page http://www.cuisinart.co.uk/contactus.asp?menuId=20)

There is no harm in asking. I have had replacement cooker nobs, bin lids allsorts by just being honest with message and asking nicely.

SOURCE: kettle shuts off before boiling?

I had a similar failure. Switch it on and the lights flicker and go out before it boils. Took it apart (Tamper Proof TORX, available from Snap-On, Canadian Tire, probably most auto parts places that also sell tools). The On-Off switch has a mechanical lock out for the lid being open and also for when it is not mounted on the base. The kettle also has three bi-metallic temperature switches. One shuts off the kettle after it has boiled long enough. The other two sit up against the element assembly adjacent to each end of the heating element. They protect against boiling an empty kettle by sensing the higher element temperture when there is no water to conduct away the heat. In the case where the lights flicker and go out, but the switch stays 'On' these are the likely culprit.
In my kettle the contacts did not line up correctly. Instead of making good contact they were only partially overlapping like a couple of the olympic rings or a couple of rings from the Audi logo. This resulted in a localized increased resistance and high heat in one of the contact holders which eventually melted the surrounding plastic. At that point the wires going to the element behaved a bit like springs which forced the contact holder further out of alignment until it all became hot enough to trigger the thermal switch.
I fixed it by bending the contact holder, which is fused into the now hardened plastic, to the optimal position and hopefully it will not generate enough heat to remelt the plastic or trip the thermal switch.
I have boiled a couple of kettlefuls; so far so good!

What ticks me off about this is that I don't mind getting 'Made In China' ****; everything comes from China anyway. But don't charge me a ridiculous amount of money and try to pretend that I am getting a superiour product. If I had paid twenty dollars or less for it I would just chuck it and get the same one again because it looks nice, pours well, doesn't burn the hands, worked OK for couple of years, etc. Instead I walk away from this feeling really ripped off. I have a house full of Braun products(shaver, kettle multiple tooth brushes) but now I won't buy any more.

Oh and if you take your kettle apart and your house burns down it is not my fault. There, now I feel better.

SOURCE: Kettle will not stay on

Sounds like the switch is weight sensitive. A safety feature to prevent overheat as contents run low? The baseplate is probably not moving freely enough to move accordingly.

My kettle wont start. it seems the connection from the base to the kettle is not connecting. if I hold the kettle firmly down it will start but as soon as I take weight off the kettle it stops.

The contacts inside the base are carboned up and possibly misaligned. Take the base apart and clean the contacts with a nail file, check the alignment and correct if needed. Also clean the contacts on the bottom of the kettle. If you still have the same issue, open the base and inset a small piece of cork gasket material under the three contacts so they will not drop down when you put the kettle on top of the base. Don't make the cork pieces too thick or the kettle will not sit flat.

Kettle not heating up

First check that the kettle is plugged into the cabinet. Then check if switch, (or red power light) lights up when you flipped the switch back and forth. If it does the problem is inside the kettle.

Contact a Gold Medal dealer for service options, repairing it is the best options as a replacement kettle for that model is very expensive.

When the kettle is switched on, the light comes on...

sounds like the element has died. If it's still under warranty, take it back. If it's not under warranty, contact an electrician or appliance repair person. Unless it's an expensive kettle though, it's probably not worthwhile fixing, as elements can sometimes be as expensive as a new kettle

Kettle not switching off after boiling so carrys on boiling untill you turn it off

To state the obvious, the steam sensor has failed. Unless you are quite adventurous, and confident dealing with electrics, there's nothing for it but to get a new kettle (unless the kettle is still within warranty, in which case you should be entitled to a replacement of course).

The kettle will not get hot! The light comes on and the #1 and #3 switch both light up, but no heat!?!?!

We disassembled the kettle and noticed that the black wire had been disconnected from the base connector which is attached to the heating element. We re-attached the wire clip to the harness and it heated up on the first try. Please note that you may need to crimp the wire connector to the base for a stronger hold. My guess is that as we were moving the unit back and forth the wire connector had seperated.
