SOURCE: Thread bunching and knotting under fabric

After talking to my favorite Bernina dealer... I discovered a fix for my machine. And I"m going to guess it will also be your problem. The hook has grooves worn into it. This either needs to be filed very hard to remove all of the grooves or you can purchase a replacement hook. By the way they only make metal replacement hooks and my machine has a plastic one. So this must have been a common problem. My husband just filed mine down considerably and it's finally working. I am still planning to buy a metal hook to have on hand. Hope it helps you! Lydia Jo

SOURCE: Upper thread wraps around bobbin mechanism, while sewing

IT PROBABLY IS THREADED INCORRECTLY. GO SLOWLY BY THE DIAPHRAGM AND MAKE SURE IT IS THREADED CORRECTLY. ALSO MAKE SURE SPOOL PIN HOLDERS ARE IN PLACE THAT HELPS TO GUIDE THE THREAD CORRECTLY.

SOURCE: Thread is bunching underneath fabric

Needle in correct? Be sure your bobbin is not in upside down and turning the wrong way. Possibly the hook that the bobbicase fits in/on has been hit by a needle and caused a burr that is catching the thread as it comes around. The burr would have to be polished off or hook replaced. The machine could be slightly out of time also.

How do I adjust the thread tension and bobbin tension on a Huskystar 207?

thread tension is by a knob on the face of the machine
if you find by adjusting that , nothing is happening , check the way the thread has been put in as it can get behind the pressure plates and jam on the bolt or not be between the pressure plates and just running free
bobbin tension is by the small screw that holds the flat spring under which you pull the thread after fitting in the bobbin back in the carrier
( seldom need to adjust bobbin thread tension)

I have a janome 8200, when sewing the top stitch is perfect but top thread bunch under neath and no bobbin thread appears to be used, I have changed threads, bobbins and needle,

Be sure to use a brand new needle.

Remove the thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread the upper thread. This allows the tension disk to release so the thread will seat properly. Verify that the thread path is correct.

Check that the bobbin is installed correctly (turning the proper direction in the bobbin case) and the bobbin case tension is threaded correctly.

Set the upper tension to the midway point. (This is the beginning point and may need tweaking later.)

Pull the bobbin thread to the top of the sewing project.
How and Why to Bring up the Bobbin Thread P.S.--this works with regular sewing, not just for quilting.

Lower the presser foot and test your machine. Begin sewing slowly.

If there are still issues--upper thread looping, try tightening but if it doesn't improve, the tension mechanism may not be working properly. Check and remove any thread pieces or gunk stuck in the tension mechanism. If still not working, it probably needs service.

If the bobbin thread is still not connecting with the upper thread, the sewing machine's timing is most likely off. (Search the internet for "sewing machine timing." There are multiple web sites and videos available that discuss this OR take it for service.)

I'm having trouble properly threading my Elna 1010. Could you please help? The bobbin thread keeps bunching up and breaking

bunching of thread under the material is an indication of insufficient tension of the needle thread
increase the needle tension until the threads meet at the center of the materialbeing sewn

The bobbin thread when sewing has little loops

You do not have the tension on your machine set correctly. That is leaving the bobbin thread too loose, hence the loops you are seeing. What kind of machine do you have? I can tell you where the tension is located. Also, tell me what kind of fabric you are trying to sew. FIRST JUST SET IT BACK TO THE FACTORY DEFAULT. When you are moving the machine it is easy to accidentally hit the tension and change it. Here is a picture of what a tension knob looks like. Good luck.

Singer 6038 tension dial not working

there should be small washers ( discs with a tapered flange to direct the thread between the plates ) if they are not under the spring behind the tension adjuster knob then that will be your problem
if they are there then check that the tread is between the plates and not behind them
missing plates are available from a sewing machine mechanic sgop

My 5 year old Huskystar 216 sewing machine is

Sounds like the hook/needle timing. To check do the following:

With the power off!!
remove bobbin and bobbin case.
push needle all the way to the left.
Turn handwheel toward you watching the needle and bobbin housing hook. The point of the hook should line up right above the eye of the needle.

If not timing, clean bobbin area removing lint and thread.
Check bobbin tension, should get slight resistance when pulling thread.
Make sure using only Husqvarna Viking bobbins -- most are green but they have new colors now. All will have the Husqvarna logo on them (an H). Make sure the bobbin is unwinding in the right direction.

Remove fabric. Pull extra long bobbin thread (about 3 inches). Hold upper thread tail in left hand, turn handwheel toward you for 1 revolution. Is the bobbin thread caught by the top thread and pulled through the opening of the needle plate?

If you are still unable to get a good stitch, take to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for service or have them send to Husqvarna Viking (SVP) Technical Service Dept for repair. A list of dealers close to you can be found at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

Good luck.

Wont sew thread bunches up

Hi!

I think you are threading the top of the machine incorrectly. Make sure that what I'm saying is correct, use two color threads to sew with- and you will see that it is in fact the top thread that is bunching.

This might be a tension problem. Could be the bobbin is not threaded in the case right. First, check the threading of the bobbin and then check the stitch.

Next, adjust the tension on the bobbin case. There is usually a small screw on the case that can be tightened or loosened. I think you may need to adjust it a bit or adjust the top tension knob, just a small bit at a time. It the top does not change the stitch, then go to the bobbin case and adjust the screw to tighten the stitch a little bit more.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
