Question about Mitsubishi WS-73713 73" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Thanks for your quick response. Is this something I can do (I am not a technician nor I have repaired any electronics before). If I need a professional to make a home call, how much time would he/she need to fix it (in case they charge by the hour)?

There is no way to tell if it needs just resoldering only a couple minutes if the vertical IC is defective most shops will say you need a new Circuit board. thats sad to say but most shops dont do component level repairs anymore, they just switch Circuit boards as they can charge more that way, and not have to reply on having the experience to actually diagnose the problem.Thats very unfortunate but true.

TV picture goes out after 10 minutes of viewing with popping sound

It can be a couple things. Something bad on the power board. Or the vertical output circuit. How long ago did you purchase the television. Your best course of action is to have it serviced.
If you need any information or other assistance let me know.
Thanks,

Picture & sound go on & off every sec, red light blinks 5 times

helloFive blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

My tv goes blank with sound only.

tough call. from your decription it could be the tubes the pulsating. but if i had it in the shop i wwould first look at the convergence curcuit. the fact that the on screen display come up in colors inidcates convergence problems. you might have multiple component falure there. as for cost it could be diddicult to say. average repairs like this barring piture tube problem at my shop run 200 labor and about 150 parts. this is just for convergence cuircit rpair

TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.
