Question about St. Thomas Creations Home

Open Question

I have a new St Thomas toliet (made Aug. 13, 2005) also a number under tank top cover #6125. serial # at back of toliet first 3 digets are 1CC - cannot read the remaining numbers. The tank lever has moved almost a full circle to the point at which it flushes. My plumber looked at it and he does not carry the part. He says I need a completed "lever kit". Looks like the brass washer on the back of the lever, inside the toliet, is broken/stripped. How can I get this part.

SOURCE: toilet tank often refills by itself

Hi jj4help

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

You're looking for a solution to fix a toilet that flushes by itself at regular intervals.

No sweat. Sending me a picture was a great idea. I can see that you have a very common setup in your tank. Although there is no "permanent" solution, it is very inexpensive to fix every few years! Just buy a "flapper" anywhere. There are different colors to choose from, which reflects the different materials they are made from. Personally, I find the red ones tend to have the longest life span.
Proceed by carefully cutting off the center ring. Don't cut off the eyelets! The center ring would be used in a different toilet (this is where the picture really helps). Now the flapper will match the configuration of the old one.
Simply turn off the water, flush, remove the old and install the new. Take note of the chain length. Set the new one the same by simply moveing the clip down to another link, let the extra chain hang. While you're at it, replaceing the handle at this time might be a good idea. It looks pretty old. If you do, remember that the hold down nut on the handle has reversed threads. That means it loosens clockwise (standard would be counterclockwise to loosen).

SOURCE: tank will not refill after you flush

okay depending on the type of toilet ball **** (i know its a funny word, but it's really what its called.) you have one the most standard type is the long wire with the big ball on the end. you need to adjust this ball **** so it goes lower test it out, flush your toilett and wait till the water drains then when its supposed to come back up push down on the ball **** and youll see the water will start to fill, so then adjust the little screw on the fill valve (the other side of the floater where its attached)

you may need to shut off your water supply and drain your tank depending on how skilled you are,

pretty simple work, if you have questions feel free to ask.

SOURCE: pressure washer stalls

Pressure washers work under very dirty conditions, no wonder they encounter engine problems. Here are a few pointers from a former pressure pump tech. The unloader is a source of engine overloading however this can easily be checked with a pressure guage attached to the gun with a tee fitting having the guage and the normal tip used for the unit. The pressure should never rise over rated pressure. The pressure should drop considrably when trigger is released. The life of the pump and engine can be increased by setting max pressure to 75% of rating. Most engine problems are from following conditions:
Leaking or misadjusted valves; clogged muffer /spark arrester; weak spark coil that is about to fail completely; kill switch/oil sensor wiring and or sensor mal function; gas cap not venting properly causing vacuum in tank and wet or dirty air filter.
All these problems easy to check, fastest repair is to disconnect oil sensor wire to check oil safety system. Then temp replace coil with known good coil. Loosen muffer bolts to check for clogged muffler. Temp run engine without gas cap to check for vacuum. Finally if everything fails, run the engine with carb cleaner spraying directly into the intake. If the engine continues to run with carb cleaner then the problem is fuel delivey and faulty carb. enjoy

SOURCE: have to flush 2 or 3 times to empty toilet bowl

hello, this is a standard toilet you will need to inspect the flapper that is the rubber flap that holds the water up in the tank it works when you pull the lever it pulls the chain upward and lets the water flow if this flapper is old it may not stay up long enough for the water to flow. open the tank top and flush the toilet see if this flapper is staying up long enough and giving the tank enough time to empty if not change this rubber flapper its inexpensive part.
if this is not the reason then you need to adjust your water filler valve there should be a small screw on top of the pivoting float arm
if you have to adjust it for the water limit line inside the tank this will be the proper amount of water needed to flush once completely

also check that the chain lenth on the pull lever is not pulling the flapper down quicker than its supposed to,

try this let me know your results
hope it helps

Would a vent problem cause the water to back up in the tub and cause the toliet to bubble?

A vent would cause an odor problem but not a back up problem. There should be a clean out between the house and septic tank, if it is full the blockage is down the line, if its dry the blockage is in the house.

The tank is not filling with enough water. its about 1 1/2 inch below top of tube.

At the top of the float arm there is an adjustment screw to set the water level.

Is my water heater still under warranty leaking water on top of heater and out from bottom and from plate

1) If water heater is leaking, I suggest you protect yourself first.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Emergency-steps-for-leaking-water-heater.html

2) You have to do some work to find out if tank is under warranty.
-Contact manufacturer: http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-manufacturers.html
-Contact installer: If plumber installed heater, then installer backs warranty for some manufacturers. If you installed heater, then warranty is less or void
-Look at paperwork and manual that came with water heater and read about warranty coverage
-Look at markings on tank to see if tank is 6 year, 15 year etc
-Warranty is based on date of manufacture: To find date of water heater, look at serial number located on label on side of tank:
Open link below for serial number decoder by manufacturer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/WaterHeaterSerialNumberDecoder.pdf

3) If tank is older than 6 years, and tank label shows this is a 6-year tank, then tank is no longer under warranty.
If you have a lifetime tank, then warranty is in effect, so contact manufacturer.

Open following link to see troubleshoot checklist for leaking water heater:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Leaking-water-heater.html

Other things to consider:
-If tank rusted out after a few years and installer did not install a jumper wire between hot and cold pipes, then tank warranty will probably not cover tank.
-If tank rusted out and you have water softener, and did not inspect anode rod or maintain water heater, then you did not read manual or maintain heater, and warranty might not cover problem.
-I suggest you read water heater manual cover to cover so water heater will not start leaking.
