Question about Kenmore Elite HE5t Washer

1 Answer

We have a kenmore elite he5t front load washer, that i just finished replacing the bellow on. after reassembling the front panels, i tried to start the washer to run a cleaning cycle, but all that happens when pressing the start button is 3 chimes. it simply will not start, but you can toggle thru all other functions, tems, rinse, spins, etc. anyone know of a rest feature or something i may have missed? it is not showing any error or reason codes at all.

Thats usually a sign that the door is still open. Make sure that when you put the bellows on the ring that goes around it was put on properly as well that way the door is actually fully closing engaging the door swithch and letting the machine know its ok to run.

My Kenmore Elite he5t steam washer gets F35 error code

F35 is a water level error.
The water level switch (pressure switch) has malfunctioned.

If you remove the top panel, three screws in the back, you will have access to the pressure switch.

With the tub empty, remove the vinyl hose from the switch and blow backwards through the hose to clear any restrictions.

If the fault codes return after doing this, you will likely need to replace the pressure switch.

Also - please be sure to use He soap.

Can i replace the boot seal myself

Yes, you can. This is a fairly simple repair that anyone can do with a little guidance. The following link explains step-by-step how to install a door bellow on a Kenmore Elite front loader:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385210-replacing_door_bellow_kenmore_elite

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have any questions.

NOTE: There is another method you may try as well. Although I do not prefer this next method because these washing machines are very heavy, an alternative way of replacing the door bellow is to remove the lower toe panel and tilt the washer back at a 45 degree angle instead of removing the washer front panel. If you use this method, make sure it rests against the wall and will not tip forward. This allows the wash tub to drop down and away from the front panel and gives you access to the the rear bellow clamp through the bottom. This can save you some time. Thanks to user DGBG for the helpful tip.

If you would like some helpful exploded view diagrams of your washer that you can reference, you can use any of these web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
appliancepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com

Just use your model number to begin your search criteria.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: These door seals do wear out and require replacement from time to time. However, overloading the washer to the point where items get caught in the door area can contribute to premature wear and tear.

Kenmore he5t

this looks like a classic whirlpool control board issue. fault is a communication error between board and panel. check connections.
whirlpool always recommends replacing both at same time. very common problem.
