You need to clean the carb, make sure fuel lines are not cracked and brittle (replace if necessary) , clean fuel tank thoroughly, especially if there was still fuel in tank. Check for spark, mix a new batch of fuel (if mix is required) and start that mother it will probably run as good as new. Good Luck...

thanks the fuel line was rotted so had to replace it. Now just trying to remove the carb anything i need to watch out for when working with the carb other than the obvious? Lots of spark so should run ok once done. One more thing the started has a a pretty loud whine to it when engaged to the flywheel is that normal or does it need to be shimmed?

Have removed cleaned and replced the carb with still no luck on having the unit fire up. There were a few things i wasn't sure of when reassembling it however. The float bowl does not seem to be seated properly and it now leaks a small amount of gas so not sure how to get that to seat prorpely? There is a needle valve that fell out of the float bowl area looks to be what regulates the flow of gas into the bowl. When i took it apart and i did'n see it until it was too late to view how it was assenbled i re-installed it by hooking a loop of a fine wire attached to it through the flap on the float. that looked to be to way it made the most sense so not sure if i did that right? Anyone know where i can get a manual online for these older toro carbs?

Snowblower leaks gas on garage floor

Is it coming from the carb or tank? Either way replace the fuel lines, they crack an get pin holes in them an cause problems. If it comes from the carb get a rebuild kit an, very cheap, an replace the seals.

My toro snowblower keeps stalling. It starts up fine, but won't run continuously.

If you haven't already, dump out gas and put fresh in it and try this, if it doesn't work you will have to clean the carb, take it apart and clean all jets ports etc and put back together and you should be Good to Blow Snow, pretty common problem with Small Engines that set half the season.

I have a toro snowblower that quit running last year. The screw which held the choke plate in place is missing and I can't find it. Is it possible the screw is in side the motor? I removed the carburater...

I have seen them go through the engine into the muffler. Did you check the valves if it damaged them. I would check for spark first if that is good put a tea spoon full of gas in the spark plug hole and try to start. If it fires you need to clean the carb. If not i would do a compression test that will tell you if the screw damaged anything.
