Question about Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick

1 Answer

I have a new Logitech extreme 3d pro and I would like to be able to assign some of the keys on it to computer letters which can be helpful when I play my Flight Simulator 4 game. You help would be appreciated. Thank you.

My computer runs XP. What I would like to do is add the P (pause) to a button on the joystick, as well as ESC onto the joystick as I have 3 or 4 buttons on the joystick which are not used. It appears that this cannot be done from what I have read. Is this the case? The information you gave me does seem logical but I tried it and it does not work for the P and ESC buttons on the computer, Thank you for your fast reply.

Ok this should be possible, but need to know what version of Windows you are running there?

Also in the game you should be able to go into the settings for controls and then change each command / button to be whatever you want it to be on the joystick.

For example if you want "radio" (just an example, I can' think of any real choices at the moment) to be the side button, go into the controls, find the "radio" choice and click it with the mouse, then it should let you change it to whatever you chose once you click it, try pressing the joystick button you want it to be and it should assign itself to that..

Thanks, let me know if you have any questions or concerns, just reply to my answer here and I will be right back with you.

No problem, but those controls are per game... you can't really change the side button to actually be "P" or "ESC" but in the game you can go into the controls / settings, go to the command that is PAUSE, or whatever ESC is assigned to, click it, and then click the button on the joystick you want to be that button.

    Thanks

How do I custom program the buttons on a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick that I bought for my Mac to use with the F/A-18 OIF game? I don't see anything in the game software for customizing the joystick. ...

I just bought a copy of ControllerMate. Solved all of my button problems with my new Extreme 3D Pro and FA-18 OIF. You can program all the buttons in any way you want. Single key or multi-key entries. I'm running it all on a new MacBook Pro 2.53 Core i5 and it works perfect.
I was astounded that the old 2003 OIF would work on this new intel mac but it does.

BF2 problem

Recent v1.5 patch install? Assuming this, go to your BF2 Controls, you'll notice a Falcon column to the right of the regular stick assignments... highlite any control in this column which has a preset Falcon assignment, and press Escape to delete all of them. This worked for my Extreme 3D Pro, which had the same problem that you described. I found this solution from another site, so thanks to that gamer for the fix.

WHAT BUTTON DOES WHAT?

What sim are you using? If for instance you are using MSFS 2004 the key assingments are in the game.
Start your game, go to settings, assingments, click(highlight) what assignment you want (flaps/brakes etc), then click" change assingment", then click either a keyboard key or click a key on your joystick, then click "ok". This i hope will help ya. Good luck JLS
