No heat when drying

I have a Miele WT2780 where the fan motor stops spinning. This will stop the dryer from working even though the element heats up. The failure of the fan will not blow the air across the heating element and thus into the drum. New motors fitted are around £400 min. I am never going to buy another Miele - mine failed after 6yrs.

Another problem is the thermostat can trip. This is a small button inside the machine (TURN OFF MAINS ELECTRIC AND UNPLUG FROM WALL then remove the lid) on the right hand side of the alloy centre channel at the top. It has two wires connected to the switch and in the centre there is a small black button. Press it firmly and it will heat up again. If this keeps tripping then the air duct could be blocked with fluff. This is my next task as mine now trips more frequently so will post back here with instructions.
Update 12/10/16 - problem returned so dismantled top of air duct having removed the lid - tight torx screws - inside chamber was full of fluff. Removed and cleaned - all good now!.

My Dryer has power, spins the drum, but only air

Well I know that older dryers came with a wiring schematic for where all the wires go, but yours may not. There is a lot of experimenting with dryers when it comes to diagnosing. I would say that it is very possible a door switch could cause that depending the position its stuck in. If no power is going through that switch then the heating elements may work off of whether that switch switch is operating or not. If your heating elements worked before this then I would have no doubt that they are working now. If the switch being replaced doesn't work I would then go and check for full voltage at your main terminals (120V per power wire and 240V across both of the wires)

My Haier clothes dryer (HDY-C70-F) spins but doesn't heat, then displays an ''E2'' error. Could it be a simple fix I can do myself?

Guess the answer is too late for you, but for others:

E2 means that the heating element is broken. You can buy a new heating element and replace it. Unscrew the backpanel and you see an aluminium block which looks like a radiator. Replace this by the new element and you are ready to go.

Don't know what the price is though.

Leaking from the bottom, water all over the area in garage, when spinning makes a rubbing gear noise, the dryer isn't much better, the drum continues to turn when the dryer is OFF,this pair cost a small...

this could be as simple as the drain hose has come loose from the pump. Otherwise you may need a new gasket arounf the pump it'sself. as for the dryer issue, there should be some type of batting or fabric around the drum to help seal the heat in the drum and provide resistance to the spin. If that is gone or loose, the drum will continue to spin a few times after moter shuts off.

Dryer is not heating, only blowing cool air

Its best to take it to an appliance repair man. This is usually an electrical problem related the the board or the relays behind the control panel. Beware though, sometimes its cheaper to buy a new one than fix the old. Hope this helps.

Whirlpool Gold Electric Dryer.

Hope your sitting down. There is not just heating elements in the dryer there are thermal switches that turn heating elements off & on like your house thermostat clicks off & on. Also there are overheating thermal switches to keep the elements from setting the dryer, clothes on fire. More than likely you overheating thermal switch has tripped, from lent in vent or pinched vent tube or normal failure. Some of these switches can be reset, others replaced. If you can not trouble shoot electrical circuits leave it to repairman. Switch $20.00 to $42.00 Labor service call cheaper to buy cheap new dryer. Could be heating element but most use only one with different inputs for heat. If your getting some heat not likely element.

Dryer won't spin

This may be a simple broken belt problem. The dryer utilizes a belt that wraps around the drum and is driven by a motor. If the belt breaks, the dryer heating circuits will still finction normally, but the drum will not rotate. It would be helpful if you could provide me with a model number (located somewhere around the door opening, or along the back of the operator console). If it IS a belt problem, this is a fairly inexpensive fix. If the motor, however, has gone bad, it may be considerably more. Please post back with your comments. I hope this helps you.
