Machine wont drain and the door wont open

Ok I have a major problem... I have tried everything i can think of. My machine is the ASKO W6221. I put a load in to wash and it washed fine but when it came to the draining part it doesn't work. It just makes this rattling sound, sounds like there is some change or pebbles rattling around in the bottom or something, then it just hums and no draining happens. I tried setting it to #11 the "Drain" cycle but nothing happens just the sounds I described. Now I have a load of laundry stuck in there and there is water in the bottom so it wont let me open the door! What do I do... my favorite jeans are in there! I'm having the same problem, with the gravely noise. The expensive repair guys came out, said it needed a new drain pump and 3 weeks later came to put the new one in. It does the same thing!. Their conclusion: faulty part. I'm skeptical. I'd like to check to make sure there isn't something caught behind the pump. any thoughts?

Sounds like a blocked drain you need to remove the cover to access the bottom drain hoses
remove bottom drain hoses and inspect hoses and drain
even inspect the pump its on the opposite end of the hose to the bottom drain
if you get stuck i will try to help you further

Hi,

If your washer won't drain, check these:

It spins, but doesn't pump
It doesn't spin or pump
It pumps, but the water returns
It spins, but doesn't pump If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out.

To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.

Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job.

If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump.

It doesn't spin or pump If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it.

It pumps, but the water returns If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck in the drain?) Also, check for these problems:

  • If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess.

  • If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.

Try lowering the drain hose into a bucket to drain it, this make "trick" out the sensor and allow the door to unlock

My machine wont drain and the door wont open. I

Make sure that you have power to you machine by plugging a light into the wall oulet. If there isn't any power, go to your circuit breaker box and look for the breaker that supplies that oulet. If everything is good there, it probably is going to be a service charge to get someone to look at the unit since it is more complicated than you want to get into.

Asko front load washing machine

When u use front loaders you normally don't need a soak. And i don't think you need bleach. Use front loading powders for the machine. The automatic machine is supposed to work for you. The water empties out, so you can open the door.

Machine wont drain and the door wont open

The solution worked thank you, drained machine and cleaned out trap as per chapter 10 of user manual and all working fine now. Note: ensure to check up the inlet line in the trap with your finger as there could be some items in there, also check fan/prop to ensure it turns freely. Was amazed of what I found in the trap see picture below, pays to check pockets prior to washing.
