Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

Broken PS3 Hi, I have the same problem as the other guy had (the PS3 doesn't work on a normal scart/av tv, but it does on an hdmi tv). You said to "turn off the power and hold down the power on the system". what do you mean by this? You can't hold down the power as it is a flick switch, it stayes down. Do you think you could explain it to me in more detail? P.S: Sorry if I sound stupid.

My ps3 will not put out any audio or video

Have you changed your settings from hdmi back to normal you should try both hdmi and scart or av on your tv, if this doesn't work then you need someone with a ps3 that works (you need your ps3 and a spare tv) and you can copy what theres does but you need to be very precise or look on you tube to see how to restore your ps3 back to the factory settings. I hope this helps mines done the same and it worked for me.

Hello,

Have you tried "resetting" the ps3 with it hooked up to your hdmi port? When the ps3 is in standby (red light), hold the power button to power it on, however, dont let go, keep hold the button down for 5 or so seconds until you hear a beep again, let up and wait about 15 seconds and it should detect the hdmi port.

Hi,made connection by use of HDMI cable from ps3 to tv with no problem. But now i wont to conect to tv which doesnt have aHDMI point. So i have got a SCART Lead which conect to ps3 to tv and i have an AV...

turn on your ps3 (with your tv also on) and hear the ps3 start power beep. after you hear this normal beep, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds till you hear a beep then let go of the button.
This will reset the outputs and resolution to defaults and you should get your display again, if you don't then the ps3 has a fault.

turn off ps3 till the red light is on the machine then you need to hold down power button to turn on until you hear a beep.

PS3 hdmi connection

With your PS3 on standby (red light) hold the on/off button down until it goes green and then back to red. This restores your PS3 to "factory settings", i.e. it is waiting for you to tell it how you want it to connect to your TV. Now disconnect any HDMI cables you may be trying to use and connect your PS3 to your TV via a scart connection. Now switch your PS3 on and turn to your AV channel and you should have both sound and pictures.

40gb hdmi

I had the same problem at first. I did the following:

1. Connect both cables: Multi-AV and HDMI.
2. Go to the TV's channel for SCART.
3. You now can see the PS3. Go to Display Settings, under
Settings menu. Select HDMI and the desired resolution.
4. Change to the HDMI channel.
5. You should now also see the PS3's XMB on the HDMI channel.
6. You can now disconnect the Multi-AV.

I hope this information can help you and your customer.
Please rate.

P.S. I figured you were Dutch since you used Neophyte as a name for your previous question. Are you Dutch, and in that case: what videogames store you work at?

Hi I recently played my ps3 on my friends tv using an hdmi lead and all was fine. Now i have returned home and tried to play my ps3 without the hdmi lead and it wont work can you help please.

go back to your friends with your ps3 and change the tv settings on the ps3 back to scart output but also take your scart lead and have it plugged in at the same time. once you have selected scart output unplug the hdmi cable to make sure the settings are right. hope this helps you.

Ps3- hdmi to av

unless there is a switch on the ps3 itself to change to normal tv, you may have to reconnect the ps3 via HDMI and change the screen resolution back to 480p or change the settings in the setup from hdmi to av.
