Question about Samsung HP-T4254 42 in. Plasma Television

Television Won't Display Certain Cable Shows

I'm having the strangest problem. My Samsung HP-T4254 won't display certain cable television shows. For instance, I could be watching MSNBC just fine then a particular show will end and another will start and the television screen will go black and there'll be no sound. When that show is over, magically, the next show plays just fine. I'm noticing problems with certain stations only. For instance, MSNBC, and E!. Hi def channels come in fine and I can watch, for instance, both FNC and FNC Hi Def with no problems, all shows.

I have another brand television with an identical model cable box and have no problems with the other television. I've also had my cable company replace my cable box with another. Same problem, same shows, same channels. [Also, I've checked and this isn't being caused by any sort of parental control setting.]

Any ideas about what might be causing this?

Here's my setup:
Television = Samsung
Model: HP-T4254
Model Code: HPT4254X/XAA
Type No.: CA42C9
MFD: AUGUST 2007

Cable Box:
Scientific Atlanta
Explorer 8240HDC

solutiondoct -- Thanks for your message. Sorry I didn't get back to this for so long.

After trying a whole bunch of different things, I finally called my cable company and asked them to come out and fix the problem. They, of course, tried to fix the problem over the phone first by asking me to do everything I'd already done. I went through the motions with them and they sent somebody out. They guy exchanged the box and that didn't fix the problem. He called another tech and that tech solved the problem in about ten seconds flat.

The problem was a damaged coaxial cable that was lying under a carpet. After they swapped that cable out with a length of new cable, the problem disappeared.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my post. I appreciate you doing so!

Okay,i assumed this is what you have:
HD cable box with HDMI cable connection to the Samsung TV.
Listen careful as follow:
First you want to make sure using the same HD comcast box with HDMI connection for our Samsung TV as well as your other TV.Be sure the other TV do received the missing channels from the Samsung TV.You must be SURE you have tested both TVs with the same HDMI cable with the SAME HD cable box.
Now that you have confirmed the both TVS are using the same HD comcast box and the same HDMI cable but the connection that goes to the Samsung TV are missing some channels,at this point, use another HDMI connection behind your Samsung TV and see if you have the same problem. If so,please also try the left side of the HDMI connection and see if you could get the other channels.
Let me know!

Sound is off and on

If your looking at channels in the high numbers on cable, make sure that you are not going through a cable surger protector with the cable. They cause a problem on the high cable channels.

Sharp tv won't display cable picture (it only shows fuzz) but the netflix and DVD both work. The cable says no input service available. I am able to change the channel on the cable box, but on the tv

Your cable box might not be sending signal out to the tv. Would have to call service provider to have them test your box. Or, you can try unplugging your cable box, and then plugging it back in. Make sure all connections are secure and settings on your tv are accurate. 11_13_2013_3_31_52_pm.png

Samsung plasma won't turn on

Here's is what you need to look for when describing a problem for troubleshooting purposes:

0) What model is the TV (you've covered that)

1) Does the TV respond to command to turn on?
(yes - continue; no - 70% bad power, 30% bad main board)

2) Once it responds (clicks), does a front LED or other indication show that it turns on? It's OK if there's no display.

(that can be model specific and is not certain indication for anything until known what is specific for the model)

3) If such an indication comes up does it remain on until you act or does it go off by itself?
(Stays on - power supply likely good; turns off - power supply *may* be good, but not certain)

4) If the power indication stays on by itself can you make it go off by pressing the power button or do you have to disconnect from AC power?
(responds to power off - 90% power supply likely OK and 90% OK main board; does not respond to power off - 90% bad main board)

Here is a link for test/repair of the power supply of your TV, hope it would help:

Can't get my samsung hp-t4254 42" plasma tv to

make shure that the computer is set up to display on the screen. To check and see right click on your desktop, click on the option that says screen resolution, and then change your settings from their. The tv will not register that you have a computer plugged into it if the computer is not sending the tv a signal.

My Samsung plasma TV just developed 60 cycle hum. I checked all the connections, no luck. Any suggestions?

If you have a cable box connected to the TV disconnect that from the TV and see if the issue goes away. If it does then I suspect there is A.C> leakage in the cable box or somewhere in their wiring. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thanks...

Display box keeps popping on and off on screen

Your display box continues to pop up because of the way your optimum box is connected to the back of your television. If you are connected with a coaxial cable from the box to the back of the tv, you will get that display box. The reason you are getting it because of the weak signal coming from your coaxial cable(which is the worst cable to use when connecting ANYTHING to ANY tv, especially a lcd tv). That cable is sending a fluctuating signal and your television is adjusting to that(hence the reason the display box comes up). Use composite cables(typical red, white, and yellow cables) to connect your box to your television and I guarantee your problem will be solved. Make sure you unplug that coaxial connection from your box to the television.

Problem with HP-T4254 Samsung television model

I think you have to have something plugged into video inputs or RF INPUT for sound to work. Otherwise you get a blue screen and it says no input. or not available. Does this set have an off air HDTV tuner? IF it does, try hooking it up and see if you get sound then. Good luck and that should solve you problem. If not, reply back and we will continue with troubleshooting. Thank You Jay
