Did you hear the sound of the video that you're playing in the dvd player? The problem might be in the rca plug that you are using. Try to check if the plugs are properly installed in the right positions.

IMPORTANT:
If you don't have a Progressive Scan TV or you don't have the DVD player connected to the correct Input Jacks, and you activate Progressive Scan in the DVD player you won't see a picture! Don't panic-try the following:

First, press the PREV/VIDEO button on the front of the DVD player (it will go to the next video output option, which is an interlace output so a picture should appear on the TV screen). If that doesn't work, press and hold PREV/VIDEO button on the front of the DVD player for 3 seconds. Now, press the PREV/VIDEO button again (it will go to the next video output option, which is an interlace output so a picture should appear on the TV screen). If you still don't see a picture on your TV screen, make sure the yellow cable (provided) that is attached to white and red cable (called audio/video cables) is connected to the DVD player's PREV/VIDEO jack and the TV's Video Input jack. Change your TV channel to your TV's Video Input
channel that activates the TV's VIdeo Input jack where you have connected the yellow cable (page 9 of your manual has more information). This PREV/VIDEO jack on the DVD player always outputs interlace video, so you should see a picture on the TV screen.

As a last resort, you can reset the DVD player to the factory default settings:
Press and hold the STOP button on the remote control and the NEXT button on the front of the player at the same time - wait at least 5 seconds before you release both buttons

DVD player is black and white and screen is split

Make sure the player is compatible with your TV broadcast standards. A Pal player will show b&w pictures when connected to a NTSC tv and vice versa

My tv is coming up with a split screen when connecting DVD player

If it is a "3-D" DVD player, and your TV cannot handle "3-D" output, you get a "split-screen" (whole picture on left 50% of the screen, whole picture on right 50% of the screen).

Connect DVD recorder to Video player/recorder- transfer VHStodisc

hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.

JVC DVD player problem

You have set the DVD to progressive output for your big tv. The little one will not accept this. Your manual will tell you how to reset it. The remote may be needed. Reconnect it to the big tv and check the menus.
