Question about SanDisk Sansa c200 MP3 Player

Songs won't play after loaded onto Sansa...

Hi,

I have a Sansa c240. I used to have a Sansa 8g but I killed it, or it died. Now I am already having problems with this one.

Last month I loaded a couple of songs to a playlist and when I would attempt to play the songs it would lock up and I'd have to remove the battery to reset. I plugged it in to the pc and the pc didn't recognize it anymore. I managed to delete the songs with the Sansa menu and then the pc recognized it.

Fast forward to this month. Same thing. I decided to try again and it did the same thing. I have no problem with the external card when adding songs, just the internal. I tried reformatting twice but no go.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I am horribly addicted to my Sansa and I never leave home without it! Dang addictive technology!! ;)

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Hello,

virus is what is causing the problem.

There is either a virus on your PC or on the player.

To figure this out, test the player with another PC and see what the out come would be.

Which ever is responsible for the virus, use an anti virus to remove the virus.

My mp3 says that i don't have anymore space, but it only shows 10


I'm not sure what you are asking, but maybe my experience can help you. I was using Windows 2000 (it has no DRM) and the Sansa C240 was displayed in Windows Explorer like a removable drive. I could copy and delete files in Windows Explorer. I switched to Windows XP and when I connected the C240, no files were displayed for it in Windows Explorer. I realized that XP had DRM and all the media files had to be transfered with Windows Media Player. When I opened WMP, it recognized the C240, but it didn't list any of the mp3 files I had already loaded on the C240. WMP asked if I wanted to delete all the media currently on the C240, but I clicked No. After that, WMP worked like the old files didn't exist. It would only delete files that had been copied to the C240 when it was synced.
I would recommend that you use Windows Media Player (or WinAmp) to delete all old media files on the C240 and use the sync button to copy and delete files from the C240. See Windows Media Player help for details.

Sansa c240 won't show what songs are on the player


Turn on the mp3
go to settings
go to system settings
then go to USB MODE
try first setting "AUTO DETETECT"
IF THAT DOES NOT WORK TRY MTP
AND THEN MSC

ONE OF THOSE SETTINGS WILL WORK..

Use WindowsMedia Player or Windows Explorer - just like your manual says. Go to Sandisk's website if you have lost the manual.

Deleting individual songs


Connect the Sansa to the computer.
On the computer, Go into Start --> all Programs --> Windows Media Player
When Windows Media Player is open, make sure you have version 10 or 11.
Find the icon of your Sansa on the left-hand side - click the plus sign next to the Sansa
Click on the songs folder
Click on a song name
Hit "delete" on your keyboard
The song is erased.

How do i reset my sansa c240 mp3 player?


If you go under settings there is a reset there. You should also be able to access your songs from your PC when u plug in your USB & could delete songs there. Might also want to look into getting a micro SD if u don't already have one. Good luck!

Need help!!!


Okay, timi-boo and JoD3 i believe i have a solution to your problem, on your device, go to the settings section and search for the reset all option. When you select it, everything on your Sansa should be erased.
The same problem occured to mines too. All you have to do is relax and plug it back int o you computer. The reason i implicate that it won't play on the computer is because its already erased so there's no data there, but your computer has memorized the information and just shows it(e.g. cookies) . As long as your computer can tell you theres __ this much memory left(which should be 980/40 sumthing) then everything is perfectly fine. =) Hopefull i helped! ^_^
