F71 points at a connection error between button pad and control board.

Please read the indications in this article: F70 and F71 are two logic board error codes...

What do the following codes mean: F70 and F71. My washer is a Kenmore Elite HE5t. Thank you

The F70&F71 mean basically the same thing

F70 means the main control board is not communicating with the cycle selector/touch pad control
F71 means the cycle selector/touch pad controlis not communicating with the main control board

What needs to be checked is the wires between the main control(CCU) and the selector(user interface) for good tight connections
If all connections are good and tight the CCU has to be replaced IF the drum will rotate under power from the motor

OR if the drum will NOT rotate under power of the motor the USER INTERFACE needs to be replaced

F71. unplugged & plugged it back. now no lights, no F71 code, nothing works

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F71 is User Interface Heartbeat failure. If a Central Control Unit Heartbeat Failure is displayed, no communication is detected from the User Interface to the Central Control Unit. To resolve this issue you’ll have to:

1. Check for continuity of the User Interface harness.
2. Check wire harness connections to the User Interface and the Central Control Unit.
3. Replace User Interface if drum is rotating.
4. Replace Central Control Unit if drum is not moving

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

He5t washer keeps flashing F71.

The F71 and F70 are difficult error codes to pin down even for a technician.
The F71 indicates a user interface heartbeat error while the F70 indicates a heartbeat error in the central control.
There is a quick test you can try to resolve the problem. 1. Lock the control by pressing and holding the cycle signal button. 2). Press the Power button.
3). If the lock light flashes when you press the power button it indicates the center interface was able to take the input and the Right hand User Interface received the DCV signal from the Center User Interface but since the display did not light. This indicates an issue with the Right hand user Interface.

My kenmore he5t washer will not turn on. The on

I have the same problem . If I power cycle mine enough times I eventually get a F70 or F71 code. My research online suggests that the user interface board has a problem and needs to be replaced.

The good news is the warranty covers these boards for two years. The bad news is they are $360 if you are out of warranty.
