Question about HP Compaq Presario SR2150NX PC Desktop

Stalling on streaming video

When streaming on the move player every 10 minutes on the dot there are two or three four second stalls. That might not seem like much of a prpblem but if you are recording it is real pain. I was wondering if it could be low memory or low processor speed? I am running an AMD 3200 xp 515 mb mem and 160 hard drive. Any help would be appreciated. P.S i have tried all of move networks suggestions (virus programs etc.)

"Streaming" refers to playing something as it is coming from the internet. If your computer is pausing while streaming then it means you are not downloading fast enough. You can simply download the entire file before playing it if that is happening.

If you are NOT streaming, but simply playing a video and you are getting these pauses the advice you have been given is good, stop any other unneeded programs that are running, upgrade your processor, video card, or RAM. Depending on what video card you have now that would probably help the most but put in two GB of RAM if your motherboard will support it.

Choppy Video? What do you mean choppy video? Is the video starting and stopping rather than playing continuous? If so, either you need more memory or the site you are watching the video from is slow. Also sometimes you line speed on the computer might be slow if you are watching the video online.

How does the video play if you played a DvD in your computer? If it plays the DvD without stalling, then your problem is more than like the site you are watching or the line speed as you stream the video.

Gateway 5242E won't boot up message on monitor no signal

First thought is a problem with the motherboard or video card. Do you have a spare video card you can throw in there? Is your computer beeping(POSTing) when you turn it on? This could also be a malfunctioning piece of hardware causing the computer to stall. Give us more info about what is happening and maybe we can give you a specific answer.

If your computer is beeping at you, 9 times out of 10 its going to be an issue with the memory or video. (more often the memory) Try re-seating both. When I try to watch video tutorials or utube I get stalls

It is because the web browser has to pre load some of the video before playing it. If your internet isn't fast enough the video pauses while it loads the next section. Try pausing the video and waiting a minute or two before playing it.

Streaming audio/video quality can be affected by connection rate and Internet congestion. Many types of interruptions between your computer, your player, your computer's OS, your local network, your ISP and a streaming server can exist and cause trouble....
When you listen to the live audio/video stream, the sound or video skips, cuts out or buffers if the player doesn't have enough network bandwidth, it will buffer. Try increasing your player's buffering setting. Also:
  • Make sure you are choosing the appropriate bandwidth version of a media stream based on your Internet connection.
  • Make sure you are choosing the appropriate bandwidth settings in an Internet media player or streaming audio/video recorder.
  • Make sure NOT to download applications or files while watching/listening to media streams. Your Internet connection is shared between all open applications including your web-browser, your download manager and your streaming player. Closing applications that use your Internet connection simultaneously with your streaming player may reduce buffering.
  • Close other unnecessary applications that may be open on your computer. Reboot your computer. If you have lots of other programs open, they may be using too much processor time and/or RAM for the player to work properly.
  • Make sure your Internet connection is fast enough to reliably listen to streaming audio and/or watch streaming video online. High speed Internet connection is recommended.
  • Make sure your computer is fast enough. If your computer is old, it might be too slow to play an audio/video stream regardless of what else it's doing.
  • Update your media players and streaming audio/video recorders regularly.
Internet congestion can slow down the delivery of the stream, make it difficult for you to connect or cause buffering. Often the interruption is temporary. Please try to connect a few times at different times of the day, if possible. If you repeatedly have problems connecting, please notify your ISP - there are often quick fixes they can make when they learn about your issue.

Try the above steps you will find a solution to your problem....100% it will work.....

I watch a live church service with Windows Media Player but after about 20 seconds, it stalls, then taking up to a minute or so to start up again, then repeats problem. HELP please

It looks like (please forgive pun) an issue with your internet connection, you are not getting the feed fast enough to give a smooth image. A short term solution is to "replay" from the beginning.
