Question about Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router

Open Question

I have a wrt15on Linksys Wireless-N home Router. The serial number is cq611h301681. I have a problem with two other computers connecting to my internet through the Wireless Router. I have internet, but if I connect my computer to the router my internet disconnects. The laptop we use won't detect the specific Router in order to connect to it. It just doesn't show up. Other wireless networks do show up so i'm sure it has nothing to do with the LAN not being turned on. If I connect to the router my internet will shut off and the laptop will not detect our wireless router either. I would like some help on how to fix this. Thanks.

SOURCE: setup linksys wrt54g2 broadband router with prolink h9200 modem

You probably will need to make some configuration changes in the Linksys router, or in your computer, or both. Your are correct that you connect the Linksys WAN connection to the LAN connection of the modem. If your connection type is PPPOE, you will need to set that up in the Linksys with the username and password provided by your ISP, so the modem will allow you to login and connect to the internet. If that is how you were connecting to the modem with your computer, you will need to configure a new LAN connection in the computer in order to connect to the Linksys. You can then configure the Linksys through your web browser to connect to the modem.

Not sure if I understand properly but your router should have a WAN port or an "Internet" port

your modem should be connected to it and your PC should be on any of the LAN port

How do i find my Linsys router pin?

To reset the Linksys back to the default settings - Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of therouter with the power ON for 20 secs. then release the RESET button.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to beconfigured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in allthe laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wirelesssettings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wirelessrouter.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

How do the cables connect? Which cable goes where?

Step 1:
Connect the broadband modem to the router's WAN or Internet port.
Step 2:
Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: In this example, we'll connect the computer to port number 3.

NOTE: It is advisable to connect the computer to one of the Ethernet (1, 2, 3 or 4) ports when setting up the router for the first time. If you have successfully configured the router using a wireless computer, unplug the Ethernet cable which connects the computer to the router for you to have wireless Internet connection. For instructions on how to connect the wireless computer to go online using the Linksys router, click here.

WRT150N looses wireless connectivity

filasian, there is a strong possibility that the switch part of your router is defective because there is no light on number 2 even if there is a computer plugged into it, this can be the factor that affects the wireless operation of the unit.

the best move you may do at this point is to contact Linksys to perform a firmware flash on your router or discuss the warranty of the unit.

their toll free number is 1-800-326-7114

or refer to the site below to to see the contacts for linksys.

Linksys- Contact Us.

good luck

My lap top connecting to my wireless system.

Your computer is not yet connected to the wireless network of the router. Also, make sure that your wireless computer has a wireless adapter installed on it. You may verify it on the Device Manager. If you're using a laptop with built in wireless adapter , make sure that the switch for the wireless connection is on so that it will detect the signal of the router.

Try configuring or verifying the wireless settings of the router first by following the steps on this link:
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4585&p_created=1165894972&p_sid=RY2yXS3j&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTAwNiZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPTE3MjEsMTcyMyZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PTIuMTcyMyZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD13aXJlbGVzcyBzZWN1cml0eQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1

After configuring or verifying the wireless settings of the router, connect your wireless computer by following the steps on this link:
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4055&p_created=1160185039&p_sid=RY2yXS3j&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTAyNSZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPTE3MjEsMTcyMyZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PTIuMTcyMyZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1jb25uZWN0aW5n&p_li=&p_topview=1

If you cannot still connect wirelessly, let me know of the following:
- model number of the router
- operating system of the computer
- wireless adapter installed on the computer (built in or external)
- brand of wireless adapter installed
- wireless settings of the router (SSID, wireless security)
