SOURCE: dishwasher not drying

A technician told me that the dry cycle depends on the heat from the water during the wash cycle. If your water heater is far away from your dishwasher, turn on your tab at the sink and make sure the water is hot before you start your dishwasher. Otherwise, the dishwasher is using cold water and thus when it gets to the dry cycle, the dishes won't dry.

SOURCE: Dishwasher not drying

Same problem here. I read the manual very carefully. "OptiDry", "ExtraDry", "EcoDry", "condensation drying" -- lots of fancy words to cover the simple fact -- they DO NOT DRY the dishes. There is no heating element. I wish they would just state this up-front. Air drying the dishes for 24 hours after each wash is not workable for most users...

No they don't do they. Even if you don't use "Sanitize" or "Air Dry". The water doesn't get that hot either if you haven't noticed. With the new "replacement" machine, even after it's done I can't touch the dishes for several minutes. But the LG made that little jingle indicating it was done. There must be an easter egg somewhere that tells the machine to dry. Whatever you do, go and buy Dishwasher Booster, whether your store carries "Affresh" or the Oxy Clean brand, use it every cycle with your washer. You'll thank me. Your problem probably isn't listed under troubleshooting either is it? Just hang some paper towels or a dish towel nearby and expect to dry your dishes when the machine is finished washing them.

Kenmore dishwasher leaving a lot of water on door, bottom, wall and dishes! it STINKS!

The pump could be leaking. The drain could be plugged - hence the smell. Taking a look underneath could reveal what needs to be fixed. I don't have an answer for why dishes are still wet even after a hot wash and heated dry but perhaps it is related to the other problem

My dishwasher is brand new and is not drying the dishes!!! they are still wet. the model number is she55mi 2uc/60

If you are using a quick cycle there is not a dry cycle included due to the short wash. Ensure you use rinse aid even if you are using a product that includes it, as this assists the drying cycle by breaking the surface tension of the water and allowing less water to 'stick' to the load. Check that you have the machine set to the use the rinse aid and that the intensive dry is on. This can be done by following the instructions in your manual.
Extra Dry Heat
With this option you can raise the temperature of the rinse water and increase the drying time for improved drying.
This option is only for units with a display. If your unit has a display window, please follow the instructions below.
NOTE: The unit must be powered OFF before activating.
To activate:
Press and hold the left "Cancel Reset" button, then • press and hold the ON/OFF button.
The model number I think should read SHE55M12UC/60.
I hope this helps.
When the LED display window indicates a "0" or "1" • release both buttons.
To activate extra dry heat, press the left "Cancel Reset" • button until the display indicates "1".
To disable extra dry heat, press the left "Cancel Reset" • button until the display indicates "0".
Press the ON/OFF button to save the setting.

Dishes won't dry Bosch SHU43

Hello, welcome to Fixya.

I know this post is a few days old, but in the event you haven't found a solution yet I'll throw my 2 cents into it.

I just want to clarify one thing you mentioned in your post about a setting "1" for extra drying, I've been working on B/S/H/ ( bosch thermador siemens gaggenau ) dishwasher's for a long time and this is new to me.

I suspect the "1" is actually an error code and not coincidentally the reason it doesn't dry.

Here`s the most likely reason why it has detected the error...

Even if your home water supply appears hot, it's not hot enough and must be heated by the dishwasher to insure a proper clean and dry, hence most if not all manufacturer`s do this.

When it comes to your Bosch dishwasher the problem likely lye`s within`the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ).

To repair your unit It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board. This will be one of the pins from the heater relay, hence the unit sit`s and display`s the error "1" telling you it can`t heat the water.

( I can send you documentation directly from B/S/H/ confirming and explaining this if you'd like to post your email address ).

**Further to this, if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...although Bosch recommend`s replacing the control and I don`t pretend to speak on their behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)**

**Please disconnect the power before attempting any service to the dishwasher**

Installing a new control will certainly remedy the problem as well. But when it is priced at about $170.00 I am more likely to offer someone an alternative to buying new, hence my first reaction to mention this repair tidbit.

The control is available at most brick & mortar appliance parts stores or on-line at vendors such as "repairclinic.com", "apwagner.com", "searspartsdirect.com" etc. part number is based on your specific model number so you`ll need to provide that.

Hope this answer`s your question's, let me know if I can assist you further. Thank`s for visiting "fixya" for your repair inquiries.

Please take a moment and rate this solution to it's helpfulness to you and leave a testimony if you're satisfied.

Good luck.

no dishwasher will actually dry your dishes. if you read your owners manuel you will see that it recomends you use Jet Dry. also it depends on how much plastic is in the load as they will hold moister

The new washer is drying the dishes faster that the old one,Try setting it to no heat dry and see if that helps,if so you will need a water softener or filter for the water line to the washer.
