Our tv is mostly red and blue. It is double focused. The words are doubled in red. I tried converge on auto and that didn't help. Then I tried converge manually and the lines are curved. That didn't help either. Also when I did converge, the + was green.

A repair facility will charge 400 to 600.00 for the repair. Or you can repair it yourself if you can solder. As both convergence ICs need to be replaced. They are STK392-110 you can get replacement ICs at the following link with free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

Ur tv have convergence problems,it dead.U must have soldering tools and know how to solders to fix the convergence problems.U must replaced 2 STK convergence ICS,and some or all it resistors.Tries websites like Tv repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a convergence kit to repair it ur self. The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks! See link for more detail http://www.ehow.com/how_4575598_yourself-projection-tv-repair-convergence.html
I have the same tv set and about 4months ago Ihad the IC STK392-110 replaced. I was told that it was the most common problem with proj. tvs. It did solve the probem until last night when I went into the menu to change a audio setting and stupiditely accesed the convergence setting and decided to do an auto adjustment which mesed up my beutiful HD picture. Now I have the red out of alignment ad even after I did a reset and multiple manual adjustmets it is still off at the top and bottom af my screen.
If you do not have hand soldering skills or know how to use a multimeter, I would suggest to replace the whole assembly.
If you know how to solder you can just replace 2 ICs that are mounted on the big black heatsinks and possibly 1 or more resistors. Click here to find the entire assembly for your TV.
If the images are different colors (red, green, blue) then the convergence has diverged. Some TV allow re-convergence through the menu screen, older sets my need to be physically adjusted (aimed) to clear this up. a strong knock to the TV may have cause this.
That 's actually a very reasonable price for a convergence board replacement in that TV. You can expect elsewhere to be double that or more. Unless you know electronics in TVs I don't advise trying to repair it yourself.
Yes, one of your convergence IC's have gone bad. They are located on the convergence board inside the tv and there are two of them. They are inexpensive and easy to replace if you know how to solder. Watch out for the JVC booby trap sensor on the dvi input card. Don't run the tv with the back panel off unless you have disconnected the DVI card from the main board. I would even cover the little sensor with black electrical tape. Then it is safe to work on the tv when it's open and on. Well safe for those who know what they are doing.
You have an convergence problem, There are 2
IC's that go bad and a few resisters that can
change value. If you flip the board with the
Chips inspect the pins for cold solder joints.
The IC's can be purchased from matelectronics
