Question about RTO Stairmaster Clubtrack 510 Treadmill

Open Question

I have a stairmaster 510 that reads power loss 1, I located a burned fuse and found the capacitor #sg328 was fried. Do I need to replace the board or just the capacitors and if so where can I obtain one? also do you have any idea what may have caused this problem or do you feel it was the capacitor had worn out?

32MD251D/37 will not power on

Workup for repair

Diagnosis for Magnavox 32MD251D/37

Symptoms:

Will not power on

Once on, if turned off power might not return

Does not respond to power cycling

Possible Culprits:

Overloaded fuse

Damaged/fried power board

Damaged/fried inverter board

Damage to wiring or related

Overloaded capacitors on power board - I identified this based on a visual inspection and a multi meter test

Problems Identified:

Capacitor 2079 appears overloaded - 1200uf 35v

Capacitor 2080 appears overloaded - 1200uf 35v

Explanation:

The capacitors referenced regulate the voltage controlling the power. These caps have a limited lifetime in hours which is usually around 3000. The device was left on for an extended period of time overloading these essential components.

Resolution:

1. I will order a set of replacement capacitors

2. Discharge board prior to work

3. Remove and replace damaged capacitors

Required Parts (total cost $30):

(2) Vented axial 1200uF 35v Capacitors - $8

Variable wattage soldering iron (minimum 35w) - $22

I have a panasonic th-42px80u, i turned it on and there was a pop and a flash from the back of the tv. It will not power up and have no red light. ive taken apart and inspected power supply board for burn...

Look for a fried (possibly exploded) transistor or diode on the power supply board. In particular, look at the transistor mounted on a heat sink (metal radiator block) between the fuse and the largest transformer on the board. It may also have a damaged regulator chip driving it. Modern TV sets operated by remote controls generally have the power supply split into two sections - standby and main. Your problem is most likely in the main section.

A voltage sniffer won't tell you much - most sets have power right up to the fuse on the power supply board. If the fuse is blown, don't bother replacing it until you find out what blew it - you'll just waste another fuse. I generally start by doing ohmmeter checks (power disconnected!) on the diodes and transistors - anything reading less than 1 Ohm is probably fried or is being shorted through a transformer winding by another fried component. Other readings must be interpreted according to the circuit design.

Polk Audio PSW202 subwoofer. Replaced burnt fuse but blows the next fuse after connecting to amplifier and powering on. What else can I do?

Fuse probably went bad because either the large filer capacitors at the edge of the PCB went bad and or the final output IC mounted on the heatsink(15 pin) fried. Check the capacitors and all the semiconductor components on the board for burn marks or corrosion. You have to remove the heat sink clamp from in front of the output IC to adequately visualize its condition. In fact you might have to remove the large aluminum heatsink attached to the chassis to get a good view of the IC. If it or the heat sink clamp show signs of thermal burns you need to replace it. The IC is a TS TDA7294 mono audio amp available at Mouser Electronics. Replace the 35V 4700mF caps with 50V 4700mF caps. You will only have enough space on the top of the PCB for one of the larger caps. I mounted the other on the circuit side of the board. Note the polarity of the original caps and respect it in their replacements. The fuse is a 5 X 20 medium speed slow blow 250V 2.0A glass fuse.

Maganovox 37'' power button not lighting up anymore.

Set your volt meter to the diode check and measure across the white fuse [power off and unplugged],Shuld read zero. Then the fuse is good, an open fuse will have no reading. If you replaced the caps....be sure the voltage is the same or greater. The Mfs must be the same...and most importantly be sure they are 105dgrees. In some cases they could be 125 degrees. If you replaced them with 85 degrees you will definitly not get a good start up. And always be sure you check the polarity on the caps to the board. The board should show a plus or minus. The long leg on a new cap is always positive. Locations for the caps I believe are2074 which is 25volt 2200Mf and cap 2081 is 35volt 1200Mf and a third cap 2066 at 16volt 10Mf. Be very careful with cap 2066 as the trace on the board can be damaged when you unsolder this! Good Luck!

Replacing the Fuse?

Power Supply never burn fuse these day, they have so many transistors, ics, capacitors, resistors so small any thing could be burn, never find out almost impossible. The power supply board is dead, must replaced the whole board.

I have four Treadmills of Stairmaster(clubtrack510), when I try to start the machine the error (1)ERROR CODE EPLO & (2)ERROR CODE E211 message I am getting please kindly help me how to over come these...

Hi,

I will start from your Question 2 than Question 1 :)

Now,

Error 211 - Clear the error by pressing Power or Clear. Attempt to operate the treadmill again. If error persists, replace VSD or grade motor. Belt and display may continue to be used during Fault conditions by pressing Clear.

Error EPLO - It refers to an electrical problem or might be a Blown Fuse.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Stoped heating and had a smell like somthing electrical was burning? Fix it or buy a new one?

HI, normally, when you smell the burning electrical wires and board components, this will confirm a major capacitor malfunction. in this case, all electronic component will be fried or destroyed. these parts are the running diode, magnetron tube,cut-off fuse, noise filter and control board as well. all these parts will be costly to replaced, and it will be more cost effective to just cut your loss and purchase a new unit. the newer unit will be cheaper than the actual repair bill in this case.

I just replace convergence board on my akai tv and

There is a burnt capacitor somewhere in the unit. Look for any burnt or swelled up capacitors. You can also usually locate a bad cap if there is burn marks on the system board. Also test power supply with voltmmeter to make sure it is a constant volt reading.

Y-SUS board: How to determine if it's fried?

Your solid green "resistor" is probably a fuse and will have an amp rating stamped on it, if you can read it with a magnifying glass. Before you replace that you need to find out what else on the board or somewhere else in the TV is blowing the fuse. Resistors have bands to denote their value unless it is a large power resistor and the value is written on it.
