Question about Samsung HLN467W 46" Rear Projection HDTV

Shadows on tv screen

I have a 52" Samsung rear projection TV. I've replaced the lamp, ballast and color wheel. I now have shadows on the perimeter of the screen. At first the technician said moisture got on the inside of the lens and he removed it and dried it, when put back in, the spots were still there. He then said that we should leave it out to air dry for a few days. He just put it back in on Thursday and the shadows are still there. According to the tech, I need a new lens, however, he cannot find the part by itself, only the entire engine of which most of the parts have been replaced. Is there a solution to this problem or should I just purchase a new TV????

Since you have replaced the lamp and wheel, next would be the ballast and power supply board. These provide power to the lamp and Samsung recommends replacing both at the same time. If power supply board is bad, it can destroy the ballast so replace both. This usually takes care of the problem.

Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

Black screen with sound. we replaced the lamp but screen is still black.

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php Hi,If your tv is a dlp you might be experimenting a color wheel problem. The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms. The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will get color distortion ,black and white picture and sometimes you will hear humming noises. Also make sure everything is properly closed (door cover) if it's not properly shut it won't be able to light the lamp.Have a bless one!

I replaced the colorwheel and the lamp. The TV powers up the lamp comes on and about 5 seconds later the lamp goes off and the TV powers off. Any ideas?

You may still have an issue with the color wheel. That or the ballast is bad. I don't think it's the lamp if you've just purchased a new one. It's possible that you've installed the color wheel wrong, or that the color wheel is defective.

Hi,If your tv is between 2-4 yrs most likely it's time to replace the lamp.If you hear continuous clicking it could be the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp.If you hear buzzing it could be the color wheel, which is a spinning wheel that creates the color on your tv.God bless you!
