Question about Whirlpool 24 in. GU3200XTP Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Noisy motor Our GU3200 is 3 years old.Gradually it developped grinding noise in the motor assy (I think). Also the RPM are not steady, seems like the motor is slowing down occasionally. Tried tying the middle tube - it did not help. Please, advise what could I do. Thank you Milan M

Thanks for the advice. The motor finally seazed due to completely rusted front bearing. Cleaned it, but the machine wouild not start ("clean" light is flashing and the "start" button produces three flashes indicating the the cycle heas not been completed and the door not opened - opened the door but to no avail).

    How do I fix that?

It could very well be the wash pump motor starting to fail. It could also be something as simple as food and debris clogging the intake to the pump. The main wash pump is used to circulate water during the wash cycle. If the intake to this pump is clogged with debris, it can exhibit louder than usual noise during operation and lower water pressure. This particular model also has a chopper assembly just prior to the pump intake. This chopper can dice up some food particles, but cannot process things like popcorn kernels, tough pieces of meat, celery, etc. Basically, anything hard, fibrous, or tough. If you go to searspartsdirect.com, theres an illustration of the pump assembly under the "Pump and Motor Parts" heading. The chopper is item(s) number 6 & 8. If anything gets caught in the chopper it will not provide enough water flow for the main wash pump. Double check the pump sump reservoir and make sure it is all clean. If it still exhibits the same symptoms, the motor may be damaged. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.

It could be the disc brake pads telling you they need to be replaced.

Servis 1200 very noisy in spin modes. Inner drum seems to be very loose and wobbly. Noise sounds like a roller with flat spots running on the drum, or a very bad (failed) bearing. Machine is 12 years old,...

the bearings have gone, if the drum can be split, remove complete drum and replace bearings, if you dont think its something you can do, dont attempt it, but to be honest, its realitivly easy

Possibly pre-detonation? These are prone to clogged EGR system which almost doubles your upper cylinder temps. What oil are you using?

Fiesta (Unwanted Noises)

Go to the AboutAutomobile.com site and look up your Year of Ford Fiesta. Any Recalls and Consumer complaints would be listed and useful to you.

I suggest the grinding noise may be an Electric motor like your front Radiator fan motor. It would fit with the symptoms of a constant grinding noise unaffected by engine RPM or Vehicle speed. If you have a later model Fiesta, some are starting to be equipped with Electric steering motors which also would remain in constant motion independent of vehicle speed.

The clunking can be a second problem. Some early Fiesta's seemed to eat the front struts. Some of the Ford models also used a Bearing ring sandwiched at the top of the strut. This assembly was meant to replace the upper ball joint. Contact a good Autoparts store about exactly what parts your strut assemblies have. Some of the autoparts stores have tool loaner programs to help you install the new parts.

Load grinding noise, like the engine is working too hard.

Most likely the motor/pump assembly is worn out and grinding. If the machine is less than five years old it is under warranty. If over five years old, the repair part alone is about $150 not including labor.

Sounds like you may need to replace the developer drive assembly. This is the motor and gear assy that drive the color developers. it is located on the right side middle, 3 screws hold it in place. be careful when replacing to not over tightened screws.

Noisy wash cycle

if it's 10 year old it's not worth repairing if the transmission is bad.  However, if it's only the $20 coupler that connects the motor to the transmission.  Fix it.

Grinding sound from washer

Could be the transmission or the brake assy is going bad. Go to http://www.repairclinc.com and enter your model and see if you wanna spend the money for the parts. The brake assy is very reasonable but the replacement transmission is over 200 bucks. Now you say you spun around the tube freely and found nothing inbetween them . To use it only time will tell but it will only get worse. The wrse that can happen is that the part thats bad will freeze up and not workanymore. Good luck
