I am having problems with video signal from my Onkyo TX SR 875 to my Panasonic TV.
The TV is connected to the HDMI out on the amp. The system works perfectly initially but after it has been on for about half an hour and I try to alter the speaker set up, for example, I lose the video signal altogether. The screen on the TV goes blank however the audio signal is ok.
The only way to rectify this problem is to put the amp on standby, unplug the mains lead from the rear of the amp, wait 30 seconds and then reconnect it. The picture is then restored and is ok until I want to alter the settings again. I have only had the amp a month and I am considering returning it under warranty, however before I wondered if anybody had experienced similar problems or could suggest what the problem is?

GO TO HARDWARE IN MENU SWITCH HDMI AUDIO OUT OFF, IF THIS DOSE NOT WORK MAKE SURE B SPEAKERS ARE NOT ON AS THIS PUTS THE MENU UP THE LEFT ,SOUNDS DAFT BUT IT DOES.IF YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS YOU HAVE A FAULT.

Firstly i suggest going into the Onkyo setup menu. Make sure that in "source settings" i think that's the menu option) that the input e.g. dvd is set to receive HDMI. then go into the settings for DVD and ensure that resolution is set to auto, then go into the monitor out settings (option 1 on main seyup menu) and make sure that main monitor out is set to HDMI and auto resolution.
Hi, as the Onkyo receiver you have does not have HDMI switching, the only thing it will do for you with a Blu-Ray player is process the audio signals. The video from the BR player will have to go directly to an HDMI input of your hi def TV. In this case, either Sony or Panasonic BR player will be equal. Assuming you keep the Onkyo unit you have, you would want to use the optical digital output from the BR player as the audio source into one of the optical, digital audio inputs on the Onkyo. In an ideal world, your receiver would some that does do HDMI switching. This way, all the audio and video signals from any audio or video source would be automatically switched and channeled through 1 simple HDMI cable into your hi def TV. This will make you life simpler as ther would be no need to select an appropriate input on the TV, as well as one on the receiver. That said, buying a new receiver in addition to a BR player is more costly. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
What country did these units come from? Video specs are different in various places in the world. NZ uses a format called "PAL", then there is "SECAM", used in some parts of Europe, (most notably France) and then there is NTSC, used in Japan, US and S. Aisia. Also, I need to know you video source and format...accordianman
My configuration: ZONE 1 (living room) DishNetwork Dual Tuner DVR Tuner 1 [S-Video out] -> [S-Video in] ONKYO TX-SR875 [HDMI out] -> [HDMI in] Sony KDS-60A3000 rear projection TV
ZONE 2 (living room) DishNetwork Dual Tuner DVR Tuner 2 [Composite Video out] -> [Composite Video in] ONKYO TX-SR875 [Composite Video out] -> [Composite Video in] Samsung AQUOS LCD TV
Problem: ONKYO receiver stops sending video signal to my ZONE 1 Sony TV through the HDMI connection. ZONE 2 may still receive video. (NOTE: the issue might be related to the upconverter circuitry?)
Symptom: I couldn't see any video, but I could hear the Tuner 1 audio through my ONKYO. An important clue is that I couldn't see ONKYO's on-screen display menu on my TV when hitting the [Setup] button on my remote. But, I could see my TV's Sony-based menus and display options.
Solution: 1. Put all ZONES in Standby mode using the remote. Hit these buttons on remote: [Receiver], then [Standby]. [Receiver], [ZONE2], then [Standby], [Receiver], [ZONE3], then [Standby]. You should NOT see any lights on the ONKYO except maybe one red led near the power button. 2. Pull the power plug out of the back of the ONKYO, and leave unplugged for 20-30 seconds. Turning off any power center it is connected to isn't enough. You MUST unplug the power from the back of the ONKYO for 20-30 seconds. 3. Reconnect the power cord to the ONKYO. 4. Using the remote, set ZONE1 to a video source known to be working. If you don't see video, try leaving the power cord off for a longer period.
I know it sounds too simple to work, but that's what brought the video back for me the few times the video stopped displaying. Hope it works for you.
