Question about Samsung SPN4235 42 in. Plasma HDTV

Buzzing sound then dead

Hi
I have a Samsung SPN4235 plasma. This tv had been making buzzing sounds for a couple weeks before it just simply died. Now there is no power whatsoever? Anyone know how I could quickly fix this? I'm thinking the cost of a service tech would be the cost of a new tv.

thanks

Most likely power supply is dead, but there is a small chance that the power cord has been burnt out.If your TV is wall mounted or left very little room behind the tv to allow it to"breath",that could happen.
So,stop by Fry's to get a power cord and replace yours and see if that works or not.If not,it is time for a repairman to do his/her work. You are right,it is not cheap.
Next brand:New Pioneer KURO plasma tv,case closed!Reliable, and top of the line.

Samsung HDTV PN43D44 I turn on the tv then there is sound from cable and a buzzing sound with no picture

Is the buzzing sound coming from the TV or your sound system? If it's your sound system, then you may have a bad cable or a shorted cable. What kind of cables, how are you connected to the TV? Need more details to be able to provide a better analysis of your problem. Chris Avguy123@earthlink.net

Loud buzzing sound,

There are a couple of possibilities. There are some styles of TV's which have lightbulbs which project light from the back of the TV. These are big TV's but are not Plasma's.
The bulb will be behind a small square or rectangle door and can be held shut with a screw or several screws. You can get the parts Online. You do not touch the bulb without gloves or a rag. A fingerprint will make a hot spot and destroy a new bulb.

There is no adjustment with a new bulb, so they are plug and play. The buzzing is the bulb arcing. The second possibility is a meltdown in a power transformer or capacitor. The video and audio are 2 separate systems to a certain point and that is why one can work and the other can be bad.

I would do a Web search using your Make and Model and look for bulbs and Consumer complaints.

Hi, I Purchased an LG 50PK350 plasma tv and I am experiencing an extremely loud, annoying buzzing sound even with the amp switched off & the sound muted. The buzzing is not constant ... the brighter...

I have this tv aswell, and yes I will confirm that it does buzz quite alot, but all plasma tvs do, it is to do with how it renders images, the buzzing can be made worse by it being close to a wall and it reflecting back. I found that my tv stand some how amplified the buzzing when i got mine. I dont think its something you can escape.

Mine i notice also when scrolling around menus seems to have lines that follow your selection....not to pleased about that

Humming sound

Samsung states - A buzzing sound from your plasma TV is normal. It is caused by the electrical charges used to create the images on the screen. The buzzing, however, should not be so loud that you can hear it when the volume on the TV is set at normal levels. It is also important to determine the type of buzzing sound. A sound like a ground hum is completely normal. This buzzing can originate near the power cord connection or from the SMPS board position on the upper back of the TV. The buzz will be more audible as contrast increases on the screen, most notably when displaying an all white screen. If the buzzing sound is loud, you may have the Contrast set too high. Lower the contrast to reduce or eliminate the buzzing. You may also have loud buzzing if the rear of your Plasma TV is too close to a wall or other hard surface. Try moving your TV away from the wall until the buzzing is minimized. [1]
If the buzzing is at a higher frequency and resembles a crackling sound (like the sound of Velcro being pulled apart), and originates from the upper middle back of the TV, you likely have a failing SMPS board. Place a support call with Samsung to have the SMPS board replaced.FP-T5084 Have a known buzzing problem with a very simple fix.If the buzzing is coming from the left or right sides of the rear and the volume can be changed by pressing lightly on those locations, you are probably hearing the vibration of the grounding springs on the back panel. Call Samsung (or whoever) and have a technician confirm the problem. The easiest fix is to insulate the offending spring by applying some felt tape.

My samung spn4235 powers up, I have sound but no picture, just a black blank screen.

Sounds like the inverter board for the lights is dead. You can verify this by taking a flashlight and shining it on the screen up close while its running to see if you see picture. If you do then the inverter board is dead. Rare occasions will the inverter board be fine, but the bulbs die.
If you don't see a picture then your power supply might have a problem with the rails supplying the video and light.

Verticle lines on screen

This is a very easy fix. Your cable box is not grounded correctly. To fix this you need a AC Plug adapter. This will change your TV ac plug from a 3 wire to a 2 wire. This may sound funny, but trust me on this. I have fix a lot of TV in NY doing just this.24001fc.jpg
