Question about Sharper Image Humidifiers

While it appears that there is some airflow from my (Sharper Image) humidifier, it's not very strong. Even with the most humidity, it's not much.

    Hi.

    The answer did not apply to my humidifier. I have an ultrasonic humidifier by Sharper Image. I don't think there is a filter although perhaps I'm missing something. I've had it for about 9 months and it used to work just perfectly. (I've ordered new demineralization cartridges but am skeptical that will fix the current flow issue.)

Yes your humidifer does have a filter that needs to be cleaned. If that does nor work then you will need to take it back to sharper image to have it serviced or replaced.

Hi,
You did not say if this is a new unit or one that has been used for awhile...

If you have used it for awhile then check the air filter....it will be on the side of the unit where the air is pulled into the unit...and it often slides up and out from behind the grille...

If it is a new unit maybe you are just expecting more air then you should....dehumidifiers work by pulling a small amount of air slowly over a very cold coil....this creates condensation on the coil which is what is removing the water from the air....so you do not want to have a high air flow, it will not work as well...

My Sharper Image cool mist humidifier is not putting out any mist. I am wondering if it needs something cleaned or replaced and, if so, what needs to be done.


If this unit is an ultrasonic mist device, the mist element could be defective. They should be quiet, but still purr along and provide ma mist. The best bet it to contact the manufacturer and if under warranty, replace the system.

I have the HD15 how do you clean it latly everything is covered in a chalky mist in the room?

If you are not TOTALLY SATISFIED... and that has
the SHARPER IMAGE price tag...
(in y opinion... I would return it to SHARPER IMAGE
and us the REFUND to buy 3 to 5 equivalent units ...
(like HoMedics) for a whole lot LESS...!!
(in my opinion)).

More units... less WATER spritzing around =
HAPPY FREIDA (I think).

I sincerely believe... the "chalky" you speak of is
merely a product of the CALCIUM level in your
water... and a mist type of humidifier. Nothing
wrong with your humidifier (follow owner manual
cleaning instructions) BUT what you see is normal

THE VISIBLE "mist" Your humidifier puts out are
solid water drops... It WILL mark whatever it
lands on...

I think there ARE things you could try...
Obviously turning down the humidifier to
merely moist... rather than SPRITZING water
on everything (solid/visible).

Spread the load between multiple machines
(as described above)

Perhaps...filtered water might help

Dietary CALCIUM is a very good thing... and humidity
is much more warm and comfortable... but the combination
is going to give you those SAME results...

But at those SHARPER IMAGE prices I would
expect YOU to be TOTALLY SATISFIED.

clean all the rubber washers. You may have crud preventing a good seal. Where is it leaking from specifically?

I have an Essics H12-400 humidifier that appears to be operating correctly but it doesn't need refilling but every 4 days or so even on the highest humidifying setting. It has a new filter.


It may very well be operating properly. One way to tell is to buy an inexpensive humidity gauge and check to see what the humidity level in the room is. (You rarely need extra humidity when the outside temperature is above 32°, and usually not until it drops into teh teens.)

I need a tank cap for my EV-HD10 Sharper Image Ultrasounic Cool Mist Humidifier. I lost ours and don't want to buy a whole new humidifier. Can I find one anywhere?

Humidifiter doesn't humidify


have you checked the misting nozzle? if its clogged place it in (CLR) and let soak, I would try to run a little diluted (CLR) through the unit as well, to remove any calcium build up, that is the most common problem with most humidifiers, also check to make sure the pump is working, if not you will need to replace the pump, hope that helped
