Make sure the software for this DVD drive is installed into the PC and then your drive is connected to be detected and installed, This will also remove off all previous drives that might cause errors.
Hi, you can try a cleaning CD as writers are suseptable to dust; if this does'nt work it is probably a faulty laser and you will need to replace the writer.
1.when you write on dvd writer always select low speed to write such as 8x or 16x 2. most of the dvd writer do max speed while wrting the Cd or Dvd 3. due to this reason your cd is not reading 4. you can try a new disk write in slow speed,then check with your cd.
as with all writers eventually they fault at the lens and it gets out of line and cannot read discs, you can try the usual thing of checking LG for any firmware updates, but first:-
Go to my computer>right click>hardware tab>device manager, then down list to cd/dvd drives and click '+' sign and highlight your writer, right click on it and select uninstall.
Restart PC and it will be automatically re installed, try again and if no change you will need to replace the drive as they are cheaper nowadays.
