Question about Bosch Integra® 500 SHX55M05UC Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Bosch dishwasher (SXH55MO6UC/46): The power comes on and runs normal, but no water is coming into the unit. I was told that it was a water inlet valve that needs to be replaced (part #263833). I need to know if this is what needs to be replaced and if so, is this something that I can do or do I need an expert repair service to do it? If it is something that I can do, I need instructions. I am handy, but this is something that I have not done before, Thank you, Craig Covey

Thank you for your response. I hope to take a look in the next day or so. Is there any benefit to my working on it if I pull the machine out and lay it on its back?

Hi Craig,

Yes it may be the fill valve...but first take off the pipe or hose and check the screen just inside the fill valve...some do not have it but most do...also check that water comes out of the hose or pipe at the valve....
THEN, change the valve if needed....
The change out is not hard but is a pain in the **** as you need to lay on the floor and work sideways to do it...in a very tight space....but normal hand tools are all you will need...some patience and an hour or so,,,,

Hereis a tip that will help you to find out why water will not come into thedishwasher...

Hi Gilgol, The link below is a Bosh Dishwasher list of error codes, I believe your error code is E3....CHEERS..
http://removeandreplace.com/2015/10/09/bosch-dishwasher-error-codes-how-to-clear-what-to-check/
Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E3
Fault Condition: Not filling with water
Repair or Check: If the water supply cut-off valve on the dishwasher is completely open but the dishwasher will not fill with water then shut off the water supply and unplug the dishwasher. Remove the water fill line and check to see if the water inlet screen valve is plugged up. If so then replace the water valve. Cleaning the screen can make the issue worse so always replace if the screen is clogged. The valve can get stuck open from gunk and therefore flood or overfill.

Bosch dishwasher will not take in water after cut off and restore of external warm water supply. Pump runs, aqua stop slightly warm and red tap /faucet signal comes on. Tried tilting.

your dishwasher is leaking water. the bottom or base of the unit is like a big catch pan, the pan has a water sensor witch is two metal contacts positioned just over the bottom of the pan. As water from a leak begins to fill the pan and makes contact with the two metal tabs it opens the circuit to a cut off switch at the water inlet valve. Slide the unit out from the cabinet just far enough to access the sides, about 20 inches, As water is removed from the panand no longer making contact wit the water sensor power will be restored to the inlet valve, Now you begin looking for the source of the leak, You may need to start a wash cycle, this is why the unit needs to remain connected. The source of the leake will dictate what needs to be disconnected and position of the unit. Something like the water level sensor can be replaced without fully uninstalling the unit.

Sgu 5602

If you are able to select wash programs and the panel is responding then most likely the water inlet valve is faulty and needs replacement. I am assuming you are hearing a click but no water comes through. Also check the inlet water tap under kitchen sink.
The valve for your dishwasher should be like this

However, the problem can be more complicated if your dishwasher uses water softener unit. Will need the full model number to verify this. For example SGU5602/xx

Not washing, no water coming into the dishwasher

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
When the water comes however, won't go inside the unit then it indicates that the problem is either with a clogged/blocked inlet valve or the water inlet valve itself has gone bad and needs replacement. You can also test two terminals of the water inlet valve before replacing it. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

VERY LOW WATER PRESSURE TO THE LOWER AND UPPER SPRAY ARMS. FILLS AND EMPTIES NORMALLY

Hello there:
i will post this solution in 2 separate post due to the length of it ok
Water-inlet valve Most cleaning problems are caused by the dishwasher not getting enough wash water, so the water-inlet valve is often to blame. This valve is usually at the bottom left or right of the dishwasher, behind the lower access panel. It's the device with the main water line from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it. When a water-inlet valve is defective, you may hear the sound that's usually referred to as "water hammer." If the water-inlet valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve Replacement

Be sure to read and understand any instructions that come with the new water inlet valve.

ools required:

Adjustable wrench

Multi-Screwdriver

Pliers

Step 1. Disconnect the dishwasher from its power source.

Note: Dishwashers are usually wired directly to the home's electrical system. To disconnect the power, switch off the circuit breaker or remove the fuse for the electrical circuit the dishwasher is attached to. Try to turn the unit on after disconnecting the power to be sure you were successful.

Bosch smu4096ud /14 dishwasher wont fill with water

Find out where the water is being stopped. Firstly at the wall. Then maybe at the solenoid (depending on the model) and then just trace the water line until you find out where it's being stopped.
Also I would recommend you run some nickel safe ice machine cleaner through the system to get rid of the 'white junk'.

Bosch SHU 4000 series dishwasher; Water keeps on filling

The inlet valve will be at the dishwasher end of the (hot) water inlet line. On this dishwasher I ~believe~ the inlet valve is near the rear of the unit. That means that you will need to pull the dishwasher out to get to it. Remove power from the dishwasher as soon as you can before messing with the unit.
Just past the connection of the supply hose and the connection on the dishwasher, there will be the valve (a solenoid valve with two wires coming out of it.) That is the little beast that has most likely failed.
Good Luck!

No water coming into dishwasher

The hum is a selinoid. The water inlet valve is selinoided operated so I woudl sspeculate that either the valve is bad or the selinoid is. You can check the selinoind with an ohm meter. Since it hums I am guessng that the valve is bad. Likely they come together as one unit.
