Re: canon pixma ip4500
u should carry the printer to Canon Care Centre, they will check the case and if found that the Cartridge u r using is Genuine your Cartridge will be replaced.

there are small metal spring contacts between the cartridge holder and the cartridge itself, these send the signals to the print head via the cartridge holder. Over time, as a print cartridge moves from side to side during printing these flatten out and no longer come into contact with the cartridge. Find the contacts behind your magenta colour cartridge and re-tension the spring metal contacts so they once again contact the metal faces on the cartridge. They maybe hard to find as they will be in the place where the cartridge goes, use the flat copper faces on the cartridge to give you a clue as to the position of the contacts in the holder.
The colors are individual. That machine takes the Canon CLI-8. I would suggest reading your manual on what the procedure is for changing the ink cartridges out, it typically varies slightly by machine. There should be an option somewhere one of the menus to change the ink cartridges. When you buy a replacement be sure you buy from someone who isn't trying to scam you. I would recommend Cartridge World, of course, or OEM. Do not use cheap online cartridges, you will only have headache later.
You need to try another cartridge before anything else, some generic carts. don't fit right in the printhead, the ink pad is too far up inside the cartridge. You may have a defective printhead, or possibly the purge unit is not cleaning properly. I can't tell without seeing the printer.
hi im josh in cebu phils. may i help you? Friend the problem is your cartridge and on the tank lever.it causes spoiled ink that stuck on it. To solve this problem. you may visit the Cannon Pixma support manual site and follow the steps there:here:
Dirty or faulty contacts in the cartridge chamber is the only logical explanation. Remove the cart and with a cotton wool bud and a little alcohol or similar[NOT ACTETONE it melts plastic] give a gentle clean.
