Whirlpool Ultimate Care II - Whinning and leaking small amount of water

We have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Top Washer, approx 2-3 years old, and recently it started whining during the spin and now water is appearing under the front of the washer. Even after the wash is done, and sat overnight, there was a small amount of water in front of the washer. I checked the hoses in back and nothing was wet. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
David J. Lee

Thanks for the quick response. I do have an additional question. While looking for the replacement part I found two at Appliance Repair.com and I'm not sure which one I should order:

    Pump - Direct Drive

    Pump - Direct Drive Washer

They look the same but I'm not exactly certain which will be appropriate for our washer. Again any assistance is greatly appreciated. the link below should take you to the page I was at when I saw the two drives:

    Thanks again.

Thanks for the additional information. Once I get the part and install it, I'll let you know how it turns out. I greatly appreciate your quick and thorough response to both of my questions.

    If you're a Dad, I hope you have a Happy Father's Day.

Thanks again and I'll keep you posted.

    Sincerely,

Thanks again. Your diagnosis and solution, along with directions for replacing the pump, were dead on. I can't thank you enough, you probably saved me $200 - $300 dollars.

If the water is appearing in the front of the washer, you may have a leak in the drain pump. The link I'm posting below gives step-by-step instructions on how to replace the drain pump.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r397092-replacing_water_pump

If it is not the drain pump, at least this gives you the necessary instruction on how to access the cabinet interior to inspect it properly. A whining noise could be something caught in the pump, or something stuck between the wash tub and outer basket. In order to run the washer with the case removed, you will need to by-pass the lid switch. this accomplished by jumpering the two BLACK wires on the lid switch connector at the timer. CAUTION: Unplug the washer before connecting the jumper wires. Then, plug back in and start the washer. Fill on the lowest setting and look for leaks.

NOTE: The drain pump is not serviceable and must be replaced if leaking.

I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have further questions.

Assuming the model number is correct, you need to order the drain pump (part #3363394). The other part is the Drive Motor Coupling. This is used to link the drive motor to the transmission. If this part were bad, the washer would fill, but would not agitate, spin or drain. Let me know if this was helpful to you. If you require further assistance please post back with your questions/concerns.

PS Searspartsdirect.com also carried your parts. I'm not encouraging you to purchase form their site in this circumstance, because the part costs considerably more. However, the site does have helpful illustrations to assist in part identification and assembly.

Use the video to see how to disassemble the washer to check for the source of the leak.
The leak is probably in the drain pump.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care 2 leak after wash cycle

Hello, you may have a small drip from the pump or a small drip from the hose that goes from the pump to the rear of the cabinet. To make sure you will have to run the unit with the cabinet removed. A local service tech can remove the cabinet quicklyand isolate the leak.

Oil and water leak

Chances are they are not related if the water is clean. These units can run quite a while dripping small amounts of oil. The drain hose is a possibility but there are other places it can leak from. Call a local tech he can run the machine with the cabinet removed and should be able to find the source of the water leak. good luck

I can't find the model number on washer Whirlpool Ultimate Care

Model # and info is under the lid. Open lid and look directly under it - area facing you. You should see a small silver tag with all the factory info on it. My washer is also 9 years old.
