Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Thank you in advance for your help. I have a GE washing machine, model # S2100G2WW. It has done several weird things this weekend. First, the drain&spin cycle was not sufficient, as it left the clothes sopping wet at the end of the cycles. The water that could be squeezed out of the clothes was still a little soapy. I ran the drain&spin cycle again, and this helped a little bit. Now I cannot get it to do anything correctly, as it starts agitating as soon as I click the machine to start (with the lid down) - before it fills with one drop off water. nIf I lift the lid up, it stops agitating, just as if it was in that cycle already. I checked the knobs to make sure they weren't off in some way, but they all checked out okay. I have tried running the drain&spin cycles again as done previously, with no poisitive results. It agitates immediately, skipping the fill cycle altogether.

Argh! This info is very helpful (and your response was very quick), but I kept trying the drain

    - Argh! This info is very helpful, (and your response was very wuick, to), but I tried the drain&spin cycle one more time while I was waiting, and something else new happened. After the last D&S cycle, I tried starting it one more time ,and the water finally started to fill, but all the way to the top on small load!! Is everything related? Does your info stand to fix this, as well? Thank you so much!

Concerning the water problem. It actually is in the agitate cycle it's just waiting for the pressure switch to let it start. Yours is probably stopped up or not working.
Your pressure switch stops the water and allows it to start the next cycle. It's a switch either in the control panel or at the top of the tub with a small tube connected to it which goes down between the inner and outer tub. As the water level increases the air in the tube is compressed until there is enough pressure to "make the switch" stopping the water from filling. This tube can get clogged and the switch won't work. Remove the tube and clean it out. Blowing on the tube when it's still connected to the switch will make the switch if it's working and clear.
Your pressure switch is part 10 in this diagram of your control panel. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/GE-Parts/Washer-Parts/Model-S2100G2WW/0432/0153200/G0812036/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=

It seems your drum isn't spinning fast enough to wring the water out of the clothes. Your belt may be slipping or the transmission could be causing it by not turning as easy as it should because of wear. Part 603 on this diagram is your belt. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/GE-Parts/Washer-Parts/Model-S2100G2WW/0432/0153200/G0812036/00004?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=

Yes. The water filling to the wrong level is also most likely to be the pressure switch after what you've already experienced. Once you inspect the tube to the switch you can probably tell.

Random brown stains in random loads of laundry

Hi from Australia

Ok the problem with your washing machine is that there is grease and oil stuck in the machine and the oil will dribble out when you run the machine on a different cycle if you rince with cold water then the oil stays in there and the hot water lets a little bit out as it is stuck in the pipes of your machine ok the first thing is run an empty load on full hot water even the rince cycle with 1 cup of bleach nothing else let that go through the long cycle then do the same again with 1 cup of white vinger and 1/2 cup citric acid which you should be able to get over there or baking soda try that it will clean your machine and your pipes it is great way to keep it all clean by the time you have done this you should not have any brown stains
Have a great weekend

Won't Spin the water out...

Hiya WRock04... would be nice to have make and model.. otherwise.. look to replacing the brushes in the motor if the machine has done relatively little work... 3-5 yrs in some cases... otherwise a new motor unfortunately may be required.. specially if you can smell burning!!

regards Faggly
