Question about Amana NED7200TW Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Pulled power cord from bus bar on back of machine and found wiring going into machine and bus bar all melted, anyone know if there has been any recalls on these machines. Will have to get professional service on this unit, because wiring going into machine is badly damaged. Also the washer not long ago melted the entire wall outlet, these machines must have a large amp draw problem

Yes, the dryer especially has a high amp. draw.....

However the problems you are having are not the fault of the machine, but they are the fault of the electrician that installed the cord and outlet. The Electrical connections were not done right and the wires were not put on tight enough...this causes them to heat up and the fail....
Being that you have two problems there it seems as though the guy that did the work was not attentive enough to detail and did not get things tight enough.
Most of all be thankful that you found the problems and that they did not burn your house down!! Many of these problems have started fires...

You will need to have the wires cut back to the good wire and then rewired...

I just wired my hot tub into my new house. And GFCI keeps tripping?

Still would go with Miswired.
if this is an auxiliary GFCI Spa Disconnect,
240 VAC, 50 Amp, then...
All of the following needs to be this way:
  • 4 wires from MAIN Circuit panel, into GFCI disconnect box, 2 hots, 1 Neutral, 1 ground
    • 2 hots go onto the disconnects Power Bus Bar for breaker
    • 1 white Nuetral goes to Isolated nuetral bus bar
    • 1 green Ground goes to ground lug directly on the box
  • 1 GFCI in the auxiliary disconnect box
    • The White Pigtail of the GFCI Breaker goes onto the Isolated Nuetral bus bar. There are now two wires there.
  • 4 wires come into box from Spa. (Unless the spa is Specifically a 3 Wire Connection Spa!)
    • 2 Hot/Line wires will go into the L1 & L2 lugs of the breaker respectively.
    • 1 White Nuetral Wire will go into breaker as well at the "Load Nuetral lug, usually marked as 'LN'.
      • It will NOT go on the Isolated Nuetral bus bar.
    • Green Ground wire will be connected to ground lug, 2 wires are now connected there.
  • Connections at spa will be respectively connected: the 2 hots on line 1 and line 2. White wire goes to Nuetralnd green ground will go to a Ground Lug, most likely to metal control box.
If it's not wired in this manner, it is wired WRONG.

I was driving...all of the sudden my engine cut off- no power steering or power brakes. so i came to complete stop, put it in park, and tried to restart engine....NO GO. the starter cranked, it had

Hi Jodi, I'm glad to help! Jodi, there are a lot of things that can bring the BUS down on your vehicle. The most common one that I've found is the "CRANK SENSOR". If you know someone that knows a little about cars then you can have them unplug one thing at a time until the BUS message goes away. NOTE: Of course the BUS will have to be down when you are checking. So start the vehicle untill the BUS message come back and do not turn the key of until you've found what bring the BUS down. Unplug one thing at a time while, and when the BUS goes away and you plug it back in and the BUS message comes back you know you've found your problem. Simply replace the part thats doing it. I've even found where the EGR Valve would bring the BUS down. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Jodi.

Ametek wiring diagram for a Oreck XL21 600 ECB

I cannot find a wiring diagram from where I am located right now, but I do know that the black wire coming from the power cord goes to the top side of the motor when you have it laying upside down with the cover off, and it will go to the tab towards the back of the vacuum. Sometimes they put a black dot beside the tab and if that is there you put your wires from the power cord on those. You will also have two wires coming from your light bar in front and the white wire will usually have a piggy-back terminal that your white wire from the power cord attaches to as well. If there are no black dots beside the terminal tabs the white wires will connect to the bottom terminal on the opposite side from the black power cord wire. It will usually be on the lower side of the motor as well. The black wire from the light bar will go on the remaining terminal tab as there is usually only three tabs on the motor. I will check back later this week to see if this has helped you and if not I should be able to get a diagram this weekend.

Nissan Quest 1999 Van - rear wiper seems to be running even if there is no key in the ignition and drains the battery, pulled RR Wiper fuse 10 Amp and it did not help. When the key was inserted into rear...

If you pulled the correct fuse for the rear wiper (Under the Dash) (or under the hood?) sometimes there are 2 fuses. But if you pulled the correct fuse and you still have power going to the wiper, I would pull the fuse on either side of the wiper fuse socket. With the wiper fuse socket empty, pull the fuse on the left or right one at a time, check for power at the wiper motor each time a fuse is pulled. When you find the power source then you'll need to trace your wiring where the wipers and say for example the dome light meet. I can almost bet the wires have rubbed or something like that and are feeding power to each other. Maybe a melted wire or like what I found on my sons car was that the back side of the fuse block had melted from him running all those high power stereos. He melted the block and the connection melted together. Hope this helps.

My power cord on my WM2016CW washer melted to the back of my dryer and shorted out the dryer!

if your handy , you can fix that. first see if you can get the dryer going again. unplug everything and use a pair of wire cutters to remove the damaged cord off the dryer , make sure all that damaged wiring is unplugged and away from the dryer and plug your dryer back in and reset the circuit breaker and try the dryer. hopefully its okay. then unplug everything again, pull the washer out and look where the damaged cord goes into the machine, the back of the washer may have to come off. remove the strain relief fitting by turning a quartewr turn clockwise, remove the ground wire and remove the wires off their posts carefully. look carefully at the cord for a ridged end of the cord or writing on the cord this is your neutral side of the wire, make sure when you replace with the new cord the wiring is exactly the way it was on the old cord. reorder the cord from the sears parts store and hopefully that gets you going. if things are worse than this or you have any doubt, call the

LG Washer wont start, no power

Make sure there's power getting to the washer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the power cord disconnects at the washer, if this is the case, the wiring must be repaired or replaced.

Making funny clicking noise and hour glass showing that it is processing won't go away

As a follow-on to solution 2 (thanks for the post BTW), I found the problem is indeed the light bar, but rather than breaking into the printer to move and lube the light bar, I found success by simply shaking the printer with the left side down, to move the light bar along it's track to the left. (the shaking motion is sort of like getting ketchup out of a bottle).

This worked better for me than dismantling the printer with a special screw driver and seemingly needing to break the panel to get to the third screw. Hopefully this helps.
