Open Question

Have a GMS80703ANA furnace, indicator light flashes red 3 times then pause and flashes again 3 times. Thermostat set to heat w/ auto set on the fan and it clicks like it is going to come on but nothing but cool air comes out. Is this a simple fix? Any suggestions?

Ok, you either have a inducer fan issue or a pressure switch issue or a plugged vent pipe. The inducer turns on to establish a draft for the exhaust. If it is not working you will get this error code. If the pressure switch does not sense pressure caused by the inducer, it will give this code. If either the intake pipe or exhaust pipe is blocked (even y just a little) it will give you the same error code. If the condensate hose or receptical is plugged, again it will give you this error code. Good Luck!

I have an evcon furnace that was put on brand new about 5 years ago. I have noticed that it doesn't seem to be kicking off and it doesn't seem to be heating my home either. A line was kinked last year...

This going to be little lengthy. The fan can be on from two reasons. If your thermostat has a fan switch, it will say ON or AUTO. Put it to AUTO. Turn your thermostat to its lowest setting and wait 3 or 4 minutes. If the fan stays running, the problem is in the furnace. Newer furnaces have big circuit boards that control all its functions. The fan automatically starts after a factory set period of time (about 45 seconds). Try a HARD reset to get all the furnace functions back to normal. Turn your thermostat as low as it will go. find the breaker or fuse that serves only the furnace. Unscrew the fuse or turn off the breaker for a good minute and replace/reset it. If the fan starts right away, the board is probably bad. PC relays often arc together and the entire board will need replacement. If the fan is off, turn your thermostat way up and see if the furnace lights. The fan will probably restart in a minute or so as a normal function, heat or no. If the furnace does not fire, Let me know and I'll tell you how to check that switch that was replaced.

I want you to do a simple test to verify that this is a thermostat problem for me. Start by removing the thermostat from its' mounting, next locate the red and white wire terminals place a jumper between them. If the heater now runs it is the thermostat went bad on you, if it does not run please check all connections both to the thermostat and to the furnace making sure that your wires have tight connections and are not broken. I am really leaning towards the thermostat being bad here. Sorry for the bad news but really strong feeling. Good luck

Hi, the wiring terminations are near consistent with a 24 volt ac furnace and I will tell you how a 24 volt stat is terminated. RC= 24 volts jumped to RH for red wire only. This would be for a central system with air and heat. W=white for heat, G= Green for Fan, and Y = yellow for cooling. I do believe it is wired correctly for your application. Please verify your units model and serial number and give me a clue as to what is taking place, and did you change the thermostat or make a part change?
Sincerely,

Well, here is the deal: unless you rewired from two wire to multiple (usually 4 to 10 wires) wires, the fan cannot be controlled from the thermostat, even though the thermostat indicates that it can > it is a physical wiring and fan administration issue.

Unless you have a newer furnace, the fan is controlled by plenum temp. Works like this: burner turns on, no fan until the plenum temp reaches set temp,....then burner off, and fan keeps running until pelnum temp drops, and often the fan may kick on a few more times as this temp depletes.

Carrier Gas Furnace runs fine randomly stops blowing LEDs flash

That blinking light may be the diagnostic light. Count the blinks next time it fails. Carrier units will have two different blinks depicting the error code such as one blink followed by a pause than 3 blinks giving you an error code of 13. Then look at the wiring diagram, it will have an error code chart telling you where to start with your diagnosis. You already know that if you remove the cover it erases the error code, so look thru the small window first.

I had the same problem, I had to remove the lower black rubber stopper right next to the exaust fan and hook up a drain to the unit, as soon as the water drained out the furnace fired right up.
