With lots of brands of shades available today, you'd think that the market for sunglasses is a healthy and competitive one - but you'd be wrong. Brett Arends of the Wall Street Journal writes:
Do you prefer the "quality" of Ray-Ban to Oakley? Do you think Bulgari is better than Dolce & Gabbana, or Salvatore Ferragamo is better than Prada? Wake up. They're all made by one company, Italian manufacturer Luxottica-one of the biggest consumer companies that consumers have never heard of. Luxottica also makes sunglasses branded Burberry, Chanel, Polo Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith, Stella McCartney, Tiffany, Versace, Vogue, Persol, Miu Miu, Tory Burch and Donna Karan.

Tips on designer sunglasses

Are you planning on getting a new pair of sunglasses? If so, you may want to do a little research before you do. If you like to follow trends and are looking for top of the line styles, then you have two choices. You can either go for designer sunglasses, or go for replica sunglasses. These two types have similarities and differences. Knowing more about them can help you when it comes time to make your purchase.
Designer sunglasses are some of the best-made and most stylish glasses around. The most talented artists in the world design them. Because of this, you know that you would be getting something that is at the height of current sunglass fashions. This is the main draw to designer sunglasses for most people. They see the name of Christian Dior or Armani on a pair of sunglasses and they just have to have them.
Designer sunglasses are also very well made. They tend to use the best materials around when creating their shades. Where cheap sunglasses are created with cheap materials, designer sunglasses have materials that are more expensive. This means that your glasses will last a lot longer than glasses you could find in your local drug store.

Because designer sunglasses have so much style and such high of quality, they tend to be a lot more expensive than other sunglasses. They can range anywhere from 200 to 1,000 dollars. Even some sunglasses cost much more than that. While you can find great discounts on some websites and at outlet malls, they are still an investment.

Price is the biggest difference between designer and replica sunglasses. Since they aren't using a famous designer to create the style, replica sunglasses can easily cut the price. The good thing about them is that they are essentially replicating current designer sunglasses. So, if you really liked the recent Gucci offering, there's a good chance that you can find a replica that looks just like it.
There are some downsides to replica sunglasses, though. First of all, you aren't actually sporting the name of the real designer. If you care about image, then you might want to pay the extra money for the real deal. Also, some replica companies cut a lot of corners and use cheap parts in their glasses. Make sure that you use a buy from a good manufacturer like ImposterCity.com or VogueWear.com that doesn't do this.

Oakley vs. Ray Ban sunglasses? Which are better in brand, and which will last the longest.

I've never had oakley and they aren't really in style right now.
Ray Bans are good and the wayfarer glasses is back in style
as far as luxury brands, well it varies by brand. most luxury glasses are more for show or fashion than function. you really need to just try out different glasses to see what looks good and works well for you. If you want to go that route I would go actually try on glasses at sunglass hut stores and department stores to find what you like.
Polarized lenses are actually really cool. They cut down on glare so you can look at surfaces like metal, water and glass when it's sunny

What makes designer sunglasses so popular?

A large part of the popularity surrounding designer sunglasses is a result of celebrity style. Whether we like to admit it or not, celebrity fashion has a huge influence on the styles of clothing and accessories we choose. Some of today's hottest celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton and Halle Berry have become infamous for the sunglasses they wear.

What are the trends in Kids' Sunglasses?

1.Styling that mimics that of adult sunglasses - cool, sophisticated and trendy.
2.Modern plastic styles in rich colors (no more bubble-gum colors).
3.Sports eyewear in scaled-down versions of adult styles.
4.Clip-on sunglasses for children's prescription eyeglasses. Clip-ons are readily available and reasonably priced. Instead of attaching with metal clips (which can scratch eyeglass lenses), you can now also buy sunglass clip-ons that are magnetically attached.
5.Brand name appeal. Kids are becoming nearly as brand-conscious as their parents and older siblings. Major eyewear manufacturers have teamed up with Disney, popular cartoons and young celebrities to create eyewear and sunglasses made for and appealing specifically to children.

Small sunglasses frames? Help? There are a lot of very large sunglasses frames out there. From chunky wayfarers to super-size aviators, and from massive, futuristic wrap-arounds to hulking celebrity...

It is rather difficult to answer this question without knowing what your face shape is so I would recommend going to the first link to determine that and get started that way. If there is a style that could be recommended for many it would be the aviator and not the large ones. The second link is to a small aviator in Champaign by Serengeti, it has a 53 eye as you can see in the last link (which is small for sunglasses) and a very attractive look. Other than that the best thing to do is go to a quality sunglass or optical shop and try on everything until you find something you like. If that is not an option there are also several online tryon's where you download an image of yourself and can try on the different frames.
