Two computers have the same IP address

On either computer:

Get a dos prompt, by clicking start, run and type in cmd.

In the dos window type in "ipconfig /release" then "ipconfig /flushdns" and finally "ipconfig /renew". This should give the computer a new IP address.

If these steps fail due to some error popping up, reboot the computer into Safe Mode with Network, If you are still having the IP issue, run the dos window again and try the same commands. Then reboot the computer back to normal windows.

Hope this helps

Can't get to websites that require a log on ; can get on to internet but any place i have to log on and give a password, it says internet explorer cannot display page; can't access email so don't email

got to run then type CMD enter a dos promt will show on the screen, type IPCONFIG, check your IP address if it istarts with 169 then that is APIPA a windows feature if threats are tryin to get in your system blocking any outside access to you system from any network, also check if the default gateway of your router or modem is detected, if not then try check conenction if all are ok from router to modem and if wireless is turned on thr router providing a signal to your computer for wireless, if all Addressess are ok and still you get page cannot be displayed type in the DOS promt ping this is if this pings yahoo's ip address then your problem is with the DNS of your Internet service provider, try this to renew your DNS ipconfig /flushdns then ipconfig /registerdns to renew ur DNS on the systm if still fails ty a different browser and if all else fails call ur ISP provider posibble something on the internet service is wrong or downtime issue on the internet

I have a e a d-link DI-524 router that I cannthat I cannot locate

you need to check with the ISP. You may have an outage in your area.
2. you will need to try to release/ renew the ip
address assigned to your network. This can be done in the routers configuration screen.
3.check for firmware updates at the manufacturers site.
4. you can do a release/renew at the DOS prompt . go to start then run then type cmd
this will bring you to the DOS command prompt. Then type at the prompt ipconfig /all << this will show all the connections on the network.
5. then type "ipconfig /release " enter
6. then type "ipconfig /renew" enter
close the DOS window and go to you browser and try to surf

My netbook has excellent signal with the router...I do not have an ip address

Start button > Run > (search if you have Vista) type in the box "CMD", hit enter...this brings up the DOS command page. type after the flashing curser..."ipconfig /release"

make sure you put a space between the forward slash and the word ipconfig.

now type in "ipconfig /renew"

Now type "ipconfig" hit enter and look at the ip address, the subnet mask and the gateway numbers...

They should look something like this:

IP Address.......................**
Subnet Mask....................

The asterisks are standing in for the last two digits of the ip address for your computer.

If these are in the correct sequence, then connection is possible. If you can't connect after that, try contacting your isp server.

Bought new computer and need key number for wl-520gc

Hi! there is a possibility that the wireless network of your router is secured. to check on the setup page of the router, u need to type the ip address of the router ex- to check the ip address of the router, connect the router directly to the router and click on start, run and type cmd, dos prompt will pop up and from the dos prompt, type ipconfig/all and it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway.. the default gateway is the routers ip address. once u got it, pull up a browser and type at the url- the ip address of the router and enter.. it will ask for the username and password, by default the username is admin and the pass, leave it blank then it will show the setup page of the router and you have to go to the wireless settings, on the wireless settings will show the type of security and password u have.. i hope this will help to solve ur concern..

Ip address

By default the IP address should be

If it will not accept it
>Make sure your computer is wired or connected to your DI-524
XP version
>Try going start>run > type in CMD
>on the black screen type in ipconfig and hit enter.
>Look for the Default Gateway that would be the IP address that your DI-524 is using.

Windows Vista
>Click Start>All Programs > Accessories > click on command prompt
>type in ipconfig
>Look for IPV4 for the Default Gateway and that would be the IP address of your router.

If not allowing to access the login page, try pressing the reset button for 15 seconds at the back of your DI-524 but pressing the reset button will reset the setting of your wireles setting. Once your press the reset button type in on the address bar and you should be having the login page. use Admin/admin for the username and leave the password blank and click ok...

I got d-link wireless router, how do i put a password on it so no one else can use it?

Access the Web Interface , by inputting the IP address of the router into a web browser , then navigate through to the wireless page , by clicking the links on the page , then when within that page choose the encryption type (WPA2 is the strongest) and then the key (password)

If you cannot find the IP address look in the manual that came with the router or

Click start

Click Run

Type cmd

hit ok

In the black DOS screen that appears type: ipconfig

hit enter

where it says default gateway the numbers preceding that is the IP address

Cannot access my modems home page.

Nore than likley that is the default LAN IP address that came with the device. It has probably been changed during the initial setup. A quick way to tell is go to your start button/ select run / type in the run box CMD / this brings up a dos shell in the dos window type IPCONFIG and hit enter.. Note your IP address and your default gateway.. " the default gateway is your device in question. make sure your IP address matches your gateay with the exception of the last 3 octects. so it should read something like this

IP Address
Subnet mask

My guess is that your not on the "1" network but the router is handing out a different range of address if that is the case in the dos window type ping (the ip address of your default gateway)
like so ping 192.168.X.X where X = the octet values of the default gateway listed in the dos window

If it replies then your talking just fine you are simply trying to access your router via the wrong IP so take the IP of the gateway listed from the ipconfig command and put that number in your browser.

If this is not the case then we need to go in a different direction with this.
