well start with the obvious, head-phones! if the problem is the same with a multitude of headphones, it could be the sound card or the headphone jack. maybe you got some sort of liquid or water in the jack? if that's the case you would have to send it in to apple, but call first and they will help you out.
(something you could try, but im not so sure, you can adjust the volume, treble and bass levels on each song through itunes but i forgot how to do it at the moment. play around with it.)
There is no code. All you ha ve to do is go to your itunes library go to edit and click select all. then click get info and go all the to volume adjustment and set it to whatever is your preference. Hope I Helped You
Your volume limit on your ipod is probably set low. To check it, go all of the way to the ipod's main menu and go to settings. Then go to volume limit and put it where you would like it to be if it is too low. Then go back to your music and play it. Turn the volume up to your liking and it should work and play louder.
Most newer car receivers have a feature named something like "level balancing" in which you can adjust the relative loudness of each input (Tuner, CD, AUX, IPOD). Check you owner's manual for a similar function.
Also, are you or can you turn the level of the ipod itself up a bit?
First, try to restore using iTunes. If this doesn't work, place your iPod in disk mode (hold the menu and center buttons down togther) and as soon as you see the Apple symbol come up hold the center and play (bottom) buttons down together until you see a check mark (disk mode). It may take a few trys.
Now connect your iPod to your computer. Go to my computer and right click the drive associate with your iPod (for example F: ) and scroll down to FORMAT. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - CHOOSE FAT32 and then check the "Quick Format" box. After you do this then use iTunes to Restore your iPods another time.
