Question about Microsoft Office Professional 2007 Full Version for PC

2 Answers

I purchased a new laptop with windows7 installed. There is also Microsoft Office on there, however it keeps popping up with a box for me to enter the product key code. Please help me find this information or let me know what I can do about this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

When a new PC is sold, retailers install limited licence software.

Office is one, your antivirus software will probably be another.

This means that, usually after 3, 6 or 12 months the licence runs out and you have to buy a new one.

These are not cheap and invariably you're only supposed to use it on one PC (EULA agreement)

If you want to carry on with MS office, there's probably a box or tab somewhere on the pop up that invites to to click on to buy a licence, if no just google microsoft office and you should get to the website.

Shop around, there's plenty of sites selling this stuff, and voucher codes which offer a discount.

If you go direct to Micsoft, they're selling Office 2010 now.

When you see the prices, you'll probably think that its all a bit expensive, as I and many others do.

I'd recommend logging onto "" download and install "Open Office", does all the MS office does and more. Its also free.

Other programmes worth downloading are "Ccleaner" (Cleans web rubbish off your PC"
AVG (Antivirus software) and VLC media player, they're all free.

You should have received product keys when you bought the laptop. There's not a generic product key (and it would be illegal to get it online if there were such a thing) you need the product keys that match your laptop's installation.

You'll have to go back to the vendor who sold you the laptop and get the product keys there.

The key on the laptop is for windows 7, not office. When you buy a new laptop now, you get a trial version of office home and student. If you want to continue using that software you would need to purchase a key from a reputable supplier.

I'm afraid that the Product ID you are trying to use is solely for the Windows OS, and not for Office as you seem to be trying to register. On most new computers, there is a only a 60-days (or so) trial version of Microsoft Office installed. If past this time limit, you have to buy a licence to keep using it. I refer to Microsoft own FAQ here.

My Product Key Code does not work on Microsoft Word 2007!

Did you purchase Office, or did you use the trial? A purchased boxed copy will have a code on a sticker somewhere in the box.

The code on your "hard drive"... do you mean the code on your computer's case? If so, that is your code for your copy of windows that is installed on it, and it won't work with Office.

If you already used the trial up, installing a new copy won't reset it, and the new code there won't work.

You can purchase it from the Microsoft website:

If you haven't already purchased it, you could also try the free OpenOffice from
This is FREE and you can open, create and save Microsoft Office files with it.
