After successfully downloading several videos to my vaio laptop, my latest attempt has audio but the picture is dark. It shows in the camera viewfinder, however. What has happened, and how can I get the video to appear? Thank you....

I've got the same deal. I use the HP programs to upload the photos from the SD card, I must the files manually etc. and I keep getting the black screen with only the sound for my videos.

A friends daughter has the HP Photosmart M425 and was unable to view video on the computer. We were able to finally view it with the vlc viewer and using gspot helped find what to use to burn into a dvd. We ended up using Roxio Easy CD Creator 10's DIVX to DVD Creator to burn it to DVD.

Black screen but can hear sound

Chances are your video drivers are causing your problem. You need to go to the video board manufacturer's website and download the newest version of your video drivers. If you're using a laptop, chances are you'll need to go to the laptop vendor's website to get the drivers specific to the laptop.

Black Videos

Alexanderia,

Your camera records video in "Quicktime" format. The reason you aren't getting video, is because the program you are using to watch the video cannot recognize the video.

Simply download quicktime. You can get the free version here:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Choose the top option for the quicktime player, or the bottom option if you would like "itunes" with it. It's up to you.

After installing quicktime, you may need to "right click" your video and choose "open with". You can then choose "quicktime"

You should be able to see and hear your video!

Cant hear my sound on my laptop

You have just about answered your own problem. If you can hear sound on other computers and also on TV, then the camera is sending out sound. You should be downloading the video to your laptop with a USB cable. Make sure that you use the same cable on your laptop that you used to download on other computers. In the worst case you could get a card reader with USB and remove your memory chip from the camera and load it into the Card reader. That should solve the sound loss. I have also seen a laptop that would make sound when windows opened up but would not play a music CD. You might want to test your laptop with a music cd before you buy anything!

Can't upload video on PC

the computer might not automatically upload the file. it will detect the hardware, but not necessarily start uploading. if you have xp, try going into movie maker which is in your program list in the start menu. on the left hand side there is a few blue sentences, one is import video, another is import video from device. if you have your camera connected to the computer through firewire and have your camera on the vcr/playback mode, open movie maker and click import video from device, the computer will have already detected your camera, so the first option your given in the next screen should have the make and model of your camera to upload from.
