I had the same problem. I tried connecting it to the computer to charge like usual, left it overnight and it was still dead the next day. I thought perhaps my rechargeable battery had finally gone completely dead so I purhased a new one. I plugged it in to charge and a few hours later I was able to take pictures again but not for long before I got the dreaded "BATTERY EXHAUSTED" message. I was so mad! Fortunately I had a wall charger so I gave that a shot. I finally saw the blinking orange light indicating that it was charging. When I was able to get the camera charged up I noticed a setting in the Menu section "Charge by computer" had somehow switched from Auto to Off and so it wasn't charging while connected to my PC. It must've happened when my first battery went dead since everything got reset to factory settings (including date and time).
