Open both the player and see the volume control of each. In any of the software the volume may be very low or muted. Check sound card volume levels also. VLC manipulates sound card's volume control directly.

Hi am unable to get audio when am on the internet with my media player thanks

The problem is with your media player and the plugins installed. You need to update the version of media player and also get the latest; vlc multimedia plug-in(this can be got by installing vlc player and selecting all preferences on the internet section and including the plug-ins for internet), adobe multimedia plug-ins or flash player(these are most effective on Windows Internet explorer and Firefox). If you are using an old browser please try getting Google chrome as it comes with all the necessary plugins and it does update automatically.

Unable to play dvd

DVD decoder does not come pre installed with windows. Download GOM or VLC media player and install it. Media player will then play DVDs. Also the two players I have mentioned play dvds.

For vlc copy and paste this link in internet explorer adress bar:
http://www.videolan.org/mirror-geo.php?file=vlc/1.0.1/win32/vlc-1.0.1-win32.exe

for gom do the same with this link:

Do give my solution the highest rating if it solves your problem. Thank you for using fixya!

Media player 11

You can always work around the problem by installing a free media player - I prefer VLC, myself. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. If that does not work, your file may be corrupted, or it may be encoded in a format Windows Media Player doesn't recognize.
