Try booting in the SAFE mode by tapping F8 repeatedly during re-boot. Select Safe mode with networking. Run antivirus software or go to internet & dowload free AVG Virus software to remove virus.

Try to boot from your OS cd or recovery disc. Run the disk check software and see if your hard disk is mechanically ok or it crashed. If your hard disk is mechanically functional then run virus check on your hard disk. This will clean all the virus infections. And you will be alright hopefully.
If your hard disk's boot sector is damaged you may want to format the hard disk and place the boot sector in another portion of hard drive.

Hi, first try reseating your hard drive. The hard drive is not being located during the boot up process. If this does not work, go into your BIOS. To do this turn on your machine and before it boots tap F1 until the BIOS screen comes up. Look in the BIOS and see if the hard drive is there. If it is there, The operating system may have been corrupted. It may contain a virus that will have to be removed or the operating system may need to be reinstalled.
If it is not seen in the BIOS, the hard drive may have failed. If you have access to another hard drive, install it and see if the BIOS see's it. If the BIOS does then replace the hard drive. If not there may be a motherboard issue.

Booting a bootable Windows CD/DVD for a fresh installation when the boot order...

There have been several times that people have been stuck with a virus infected or a corrupt Windows Operating System and are finding it very difficult to get a fresh installation because of a boot order problem. It could also be a clean working Operating System but the user just wants a new one. The PC, whether laptop or desktop, could be a gift from a friend or one that they have been using for some time.

In the case of a gift from a friend, it could be that a forgotten password has been set in the bios and all has been done by the user to gain access but to no avail. There are also situations whereby the boot order is set alright to boot from CD/DVD but the PC just fails to boot from the CD. In these cases, even thought the bootable CD/DVD is in the drive, the PC just boots straight to the unwanted Operating System but you know that your CD/DVD drive works fine.

Here's what to do:
Obtain appropriate screw drivers and carefully remove the hard disk from the laptop or desktop. Now Obtain an appropriate external hard disk connector for the type of hard drive you have. In the case of a desktop hard disk, you could easily connect it as a slave hard drive in another available desktop by setting the jumper to the slave position (could be primary slave or secondary slave depending on the drives in the PC).

Try and backup any important files from the hard disk or from the partition with the Operation System in the case where more than one partition exists on the hard drive. When that is done, then you will need a Hard Disk or Partition Management Software like Windows Disk Management(which can be accessed by right-clicking on 'My Computer' and selecting 'Manage' and the 'Disk Management' in the resulting window). You can also use a third party software.

Now delete the partition and create a new Partition (Primary Partition). Then format the partition (NTFS file system recommended). When this is done, disconnect the hard disk and fix it back into the PC. Now you are ready to install a fresh Windows Operation System. Turn on the PC, Insert the bootable Operating System CD/DVD (e.g Windows XP) and there you go: your PC will automatically boot from the CD/DVD.

Wish you all the best.

You get the blue screen of death because the operating system is not starting up, either because the OS is badly corrupted by virus of some form, or in your case the hard drive has failed (the clicking)
The bios is not the issue. Your best hope is a clean OS install if its a virus and the hard drive is good.

This hard drive was already reformatted before because of virus infection. And now I try to reformat it again because of too many errors and very slow and freezes. But during the process some files were...

you have to format your hard drive using a third party disc to erase everything on your hard drive
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos restart
note this will erase you operating system you will have to have an operating system disk to load it onto you hard drive or create a partition to load another operating system
note after you have loaded the operating system you must go back and change the first boot device to your hard drive
The BIOS is AMI. Under ADVANCED SETUP:
The options listed for 1st,2nd ,3rd Boot device include:
IDE0 means Pri master
IDE1 means Pri slave
IDE2 means Sec master
IDE3 means Sec slave

or if you are using a USB
insert your usb drive:
click start right click on my computer select open you should see your USB drive
right click then select format
another way is to control panel administrive tools, computer management disk management right click on your drive select format:
hope this helps

My n205 says it cannot access hard drive (probably the result of a virus) so I think I need to reformat the drive, or look for appropriate solution

I would not assume that the drive is corrupted by a virus. Viruses generally don't cause the machine to not be able to find the hard drive (they can...it's just not very common). If your BIOS supports a hard drive diagnostic I would first use that to check that the BIOS is seeing the drive, and that the drive doesn't have errors (as you don't have to get into the operating system). However, if you decide to reformat you can try it, but if the drive is having physical problems the install probably will not execute.

If the machine says it cannot access the hard drive, and the BIOS cannot see the drive, it is highly likely not a virus but a failed hard drive and you won't be able to reformat.

Hope that is helpful.

My computer fails to boot up, it states i am missing NTLDR. can this be downloaded.

It sounds like your computer is trying to load from the network. This is done if you don't have an operating system on local media such as a hard drive.

If you boot from hard drive, either your OS has been corrupted, the drive has crashed, or somehow the boot order has been corrupted.

I suspect your HD has been corrupted, possibly by a virus.

TRY starting in safe mode by hitting F8 several times as you try to boot.

How do I replace the sata cable on my sony vaio VGC- LT15E

The problem is not your SATA cable.

It is either in the drive itself, or the operating system files have been corrupted....most likely it is your hard drive that is bad tho, not the cable.
