Question about ASUS Eee 900 Notebook

1 Answer

Want to reformat EeePC900 back to factory settings...tried holding F9 option but its not working...holding it for a very long time only makes the screen black and once I let go it starts up the system immediately. What can I do about it? What other options to reformat without the DVD?

Dell inspiron one is stuck in a constant repair loop. NO option for repair or factory reset . Please help. Thank you

Try restoring failsafe option in the bios F9 and save it.If that doesn't work to get you out of the cycle try turning it off as soon as it tries it again 2nd time by holding down the power button. It may go to safe mode from there.when restarted.Hopefully you can get somewhere from there. If not try tapping F8 from an initial boot not from restart.

    Factory Restore

Try F9 during boot.. I doubt you repartitioned that small partition when you reformatted the main partition of the drive. Then again, the F9 function might not work anymore, even though the partition is still intact.. From Asus Support:
Using the Recovery Partition(on selected models)
    1. Press < F9 > during bootup.
    2. Press [Enter] to select Windows Setup [EMS Enabled].
    3. Select the language you want to recover and click Next.
    4. Read the ASUS Preload Wizard messages and click Next.
    5. Select a partition option and click Next. Partition options:
Recover Windows to first partition only.
This option deletes only the first partition and allows you to keep other partitions, and to create a new system partition as drive "C".
    Recover Windows to entire HD.
This option deletes all partitions from your hard disk drive and creates a new system partition as drive "C".
Recover Windows to entire HD with two partitions.
This option deletes all partitions from your hard drive and creates two new partitions "C" (25%) and "D" (75%).
    6. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the recovery process.

How can i recover my eee pc asus notebook to factory settings

Restart your computer and hit "F2" as the black screen appears. This black screen only appears for a short time, so pay attention closely.

Use the right-arrow key until you see the "Advanced" option.

Select "OS Installation" by scrolling through the options with the down-arrow key on the computer keyboard.

Change the option from "Finished" to "Start" by using the "+" key.

Go to the "Exit" tab by using the right-arrow key. Do this step while making sure that "Exit & Save Changes" is selected as well, then press "Enter," or "OK," to give administrative permission to perform the request.

Press the "F9" key whenever the EeePC starts back up, then select "Restore Factory Settings" from the list of options.

Give confirmation for proceeding with the Factory Restore by clicking "OK" and "Enter." Your EeePC will be taken through the process for installing a fresh image on your machine.

    hope this helps

Im trying to take my gateway m series laptop back to factory settings and im not sure how to do it. Do you have any suggestions?

    Reformat the hard drive.

Go into the bios (press F9, 10, 11, one of those), and find System Restore. Make sure you back up all the files you want to keep, though.

How to reformat ASUS Eee PC 900 notebook?

I have the linux version, not sure if you have the windows version or if it really matters. If you are looking to "reformat", you can go with the other suggestions with the USB stick. However, if you are reformatting to get back to the default settings, power on the computer and immediately hold F9. This will bring you to a screen that gives you the option to "restore factory defaults". You will lose all your previous settings, but if you were reformatting anyway, that's probably not a big concern.

Need a simple list of Original Factory IRQ settings.

The one here is version A03. I don't see options for setting IRQ's.
Except for the main, under each tab on the BIOS page, there is a menu item "F9 Setup Defaults". Selecting "F9" loads the factory settings for items on the page. ("F9" on any may load all, but I'm not sure) I saw a "Legacy" for USB, I would have that enabled. The default settings must work regardless of the BIOS version.
