Question about Computers & Internet

Inactive I/O ports (all)

Thanks for your suggestion, but unfortunately the problem wasn't solved. If I provide you with a little more information as to the problem would you be able to help me furhter.

The P.C. is a fresh build, upon completing the build I power up the P.C. and all components appear to function as they should with the obvious exception of the I/O ports, having plugged in all of the required hardware e.g. mouse/monitor/keyboard/speakers before powering up. The CPU doesn't appear to recognise them at which point I have no choice to switch off the P.C. and acquire help having no on screen opitons due to the monitor not being recognised.

The motherboard and processor, however are the only NEW parts, the rest of the components have been removed from another P.C.. Would used/second hand components (all working) affect a new build (or the I/O ports) and the initial start up RE: First time CPU component check etc?

Help I'm at my wits end LOL

Look forward to you reply by return

The Mouse is connected to the USB and the keyboard is connected to the Ps2, all correctly connected. Still the problem persists.

  • gerard76 Jun 19, 2008

I have just replaced the PSU with with one that accomodates a secondary (PWR2) 4 pin 12v supply for which I have a vacant socket for on the motherboard. Having checked and double checked everything and connected the secondary (4 pin) power flex to the motherboard, I now have an active monitor displaying what I can only describe and orange fuzz/static. Does this go anyway towards figuring out my problem? The P.C. is now only missing boot up text and the other USB and PS2 devices i.e mouse/keyboard/speakers.

I feel I am one step closer to a solution, don't give up on me dude, we're nearly there!

Are the keyboard and mouse connected to your usb or ps2 ports? make sure you don't have them reversed if they're ps2. Let me know how you make out.

Did you figure out the problem gerard? It's really puzzling to be honest with you. I can't think of anything except a grounding issue of some sort. We service over 300+ laptops/desktops per month and i've never seen this issue! Please let me know.

My computer crashed so I installed windows xp. The USB ports don't work and neither does the DVD drive

It sounds like you have not installed the chipset driver. Find your cd that came with the pc and install the chipset driver or go on line and download the latest driver.

My W705 MOBILE SHOWS MANY TIMES LIKE"INACTIVE SIM" PLEASE HELP ME HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM? IS IT MOBILE ISSUE OR NETWORK ISSUE? THANKS RAJU

This is common with mobile phones that were previously locked to a particular network then were later unlocked for the use of other networks to be possible with the mobile phone.
Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about this problem. You might just have to use it the way it keeps going or you may ask a technician to see if there is anything else he can do for you to help you solve this but to the best of my knowledge, there is nothing that can be done about this issue.
Hope this helped you? Please comment for more information and thank you for using fixya.

I turned my phone on after 1 years of it being lost. Now it says inactive usim i know the o2 signal isn't the best in my house but help

No, its not the signal problem. It is infact ur SIM problem. U will have to call back ur network provider to resolve this. an inactive sim is always as good as dead sim. Ur SIM automatically gets inactive by ur network provider if not used (switched off mode) more then six months.

Hope this helps.
thanks

How can i switch my phone number to another phone

I believe you can keep your number, but it depends on who you're porting to rather than porting from whether the port will work or not.

Also one page says:

Some service providers have applied for a waiver from number portability which is a request for a delay or exemption from providing the ability to port numbers. If your current service provider is one such company, then unfortunately Verizon Wireless will not be able to port your number at this time.

Finally, I would suggest report them to the fcc for not releasing the line if there's any problems. I would expect delays but threatening the porting dept with an fcc complaint will make you a priority port.

I cannot get my email address registered . i need a server #

You'll be able to get the server information from your isp or email provider's website. In fact, there should be an article there to walk you through the setup process. Here's an example for windows mail, and here's an article that includes many of the common port numbers.
If using defaults isn't working for you, I'd suggest you check your ISP's site for email setup info.
Otherwise, let us know what program you're using for mail, who the email account is with, and what your isp is, and we'll be happy to help you sort it out.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Hi i bought a sony ericsson w910i of the internet its on orange but said inactive sim so i took it to be unlucked but still it says inactive sim what can i do to solve the problem

Your phone may have been blacklisted if you're using it on the same provider for which it was made. Call your provider and give them the IMEI number which is on the back behind the battery to ensure that it's clear. If it is clear, then your SIM card may be bad. Try a friend's SIM card to test.
