Question about Marantz SR-7400 Receiver

1 Answer

My Marantx SR7400 receiver turns on then back off when I hit the power button. I see the 'standby' light lit. When I hit the power button, the 'standby' light goes off like it should, I hear a click like the unit is turning itself on but the LED display does not light and the unit turns itself back off in a matter of a second or two. Then the 'standby' light comes back on. It worked fine, but one day when I turned it on. this happened without notice.

SOURCE: the receiver is turning itself off - i.e back to standby.

If you don't use the remote control is it okay? If so, tear apart your remote control, use a Q-tip to clean all the lines in the circuit board where the rubber contacts touch. Then make sure that the rubber buttons don't have any 'gunk' on them that are making them stick. Clean the rubber pad with a qtip with dishsoap. Dry well, put back together and see if she works. Report back on your success. Good luck.

SOURCE: hello i have a marantz receiver sr7400 fuse

Unplug the unit. Carefully unscrew the screws for the case. Probably 4 screws, 2 on each side of the unit. Remove the cover. Look for the fuses, and replace with exact same type/specs of the faulty fuse. If the fuse, is on a printed circuit board, be careful dislodging the fuse. Hope this helps.

Sometimes when I point the remote at the TV to turn it on, the infrared "receiver" is not lit up. I have to press a button on the back of the TV to turn it on.

That isn't the 'infra red receiver', that is the standby button. When it doesn't come on, it usually means the power has been cut and the set has turn off, as opposed to being on standby.

Power/standby light is lit. When I try to power on, the display shows "digital" then "av surrond", then the unit powers off; the power/standby light flashes. I tried unplugging to reset, but no luck.

you receiver is reporting that the impedance of the speakers is incorrect the manual says that it needs impedance of 6 to 16 ohms and when simultaneously using a and b it needs 12 to 16 ohms. but you receiver is also saying that the problem is with the av surround digital channel so the impedance of the speakers is either too low or too high check the impedance of the speakers and if they are correct try them on another circuit and see if the problem follows the speakers.
Also, it may be that the positive wire is contacting the back of the receiver and grounding out. If so reduce the length of the bare wire and reconnect.
you may have to reset your receiver to clear this state.
turn off receiver or start from the off condition,
hold down surround mode left and right and turn on the receiver hold all 3 buttons till the display starts flashing at intervals of aproximately 1 second then release the buttons, if this fails to work try the procedure again.

I have an Onkyo TX-8511 Receiver. The unit has power because the standby light is on, but nothing happens when I press the power button or try and turn it own with the remote. I have Onkyo HTS907 that...

You have two devices that won't power on. Doesn't that suggest a source power problem? Did they ever or never work where you are now or anywhere else? Or did you just come back from overseas and forget to set them up for U.S. power?

And you're not daisy-chaining the two units together, are you? That's a no-no. There's a wattage limit to what can be connected to the convenience outlets. Power amps are not usually supported.

Try isolating the two units and shoot each bug separately. Plug them in somewhere else. Disconnect speakers and try again.

C'mon back with the results.

Marantz SR7400 AV Surround Receiver

Try resoldering the main bridge rectifier on the power amp circuit board. You will have to remove the board from the heat-sink. The rectifier is mounted off the side of the board and screwed to the back of the heat-sink. Resoldering this usually cures that problem.
