You should do it from the front.Remove the front panel.drum sits on bogey wheels.take new belt place it around drum.Take belt and swing tensioner pulley and slip belt over tensioner pulley. The pulley moves up and down once you adjust belt around pulley and release it belt should ride properly tight on drum and that should do it

Kenmore dryer does not have power

open your dryer door and turn the drum in any direction, if it turns real easy then it means that most likely your belt broke, and you have a safety switch on you dryer that cuts the power to the motor,

you can replace the belt

but most important , find out what made the belt go out, could be bad roller wheels, or bad pulley or just all of them..

The dryer drum belt is broken

If your dryer is not covered by warranty, and if you don't want to hire someone to come out and fix it for you, it's not difficult to repair it yourself.

I could help you better if I knew the brand and the model of your dryer. But most dryers are similar, and - once you open it up - you'll see how easy and straight-forward it is to access & change the belt.

You will want to have some basic tools, and you may have to take the old belt to a hardware store (or Home Depot, or Lowes) to get the same-sized replacement.

Be sure to be careful of sharp metal edges while you're working around inside. I always seem to manage to cut or poke myself when I do this!

Can you give me information on how to replace the belt in the dryer.

From back of dryer remove access door to disconnect belt from motor & tensioner.(remember how belt was placed on tensioner & motor pulley) You must remove dryer front panel ( look for 2 screws at bottom of front panel) Pull out from botton of front panel to remove, exposing drum end retainer brackets, remove brackets, allowing access to drum. Slide old belt off & new one on.

Broken or belt has come off. If can open back and fix or replace. You may need to remove the top. Careful of the heat element, lift out drum and place new belt on motor holding it while you put the drum back keep hold of belt and place around drum replace top and should be ok. Hope this Helps

You have to get behind the dryer and remove the back. This will give you access to basically everything.

How to install a belt on a Whirlpool dryer model LEW0050PQ?

The tech I paid to replace the belt opened the case from the top and the back, and pulled the drum back away from the front, keeping the drum attached to the back panel. This exposed the motor and the broken belt, which had been cut by the motor drive wheel, probably because the drum was too heavy. Don't you just love renters?

My hotpoint vtd20 dryer is vibrating when running. When stopped, with my hand i can barely turn the drum (not sure if it turned easily before) any advice?

hi Step 1: Locate the belt by removing the back or front service panel. Depending on the type of dryer you own, you may have to prop up the drum to keep it from sagging. Don't let the drum hang; the bolts that hold it in the cabinet could be damaged. Don't remove any more parts than necessary.
Step 2: Identify the belt. The old belt may be threaded around the idler pulley and motor drive shaft. Draw a diagram showing how the pulley is installed so you'll be able to replace it properly. If the old belt is worn or frayed, but not broken, leave it around the drum as a pattern for positioning the new belt; cut the old belt and remove it when the new belt is in position.
Step 3: Remove the old belt from the pulleys and stretch the replacement belt into place. The new belt must extend around the dryer drum and the pulleys. The trick is to align the belt on the drum with the pulleys -- the ribs on the new belt go against the drum.
Step 4: Once the belt is aligned, turn the drum by hand, if possible, to make sure the belt is tracking. You may have to reassemble part of the cabinet to do this.

Some older dryers have a V-belt pulley drum drive. With this system, two or three pulleys of different sizes set the speed of the drum. To change this type of belt, decrease the tension on the idler pulley and install the new belt in the V-grooves of all pulleys. Then place the idler pulley back into position.
With any dryer, make absolutely sure that you replace the old belt with a new one made especially for the dryer. Any difference in belts can change the speed of the drum and cause problems with other dryer components.

How to open the dryer and replace the belt

all dryers open from the top so open the dryer door and look inside the top edge you will see two screws . remove the screws and lift the top panel . the front panel has two screws on the top one on the left and one on the right remove them both and lift up the front panel to remove it. the only way you can install the new belt is removeing the front panel because the belt goes around the drum from the front. once you remove the old belt out put the new one in . the belt goes around the drum from the front and then to the motor and idle roller . you can reach the idle roller from the front left corner or from the back of the dyer? i like to install them from the back cause its more easy. in the back of the dyer where the hose goes connected to the blower is the top with four screws remove the hose from the blower tube and remove the four screws. after you remove everything you should be able to see the dryer motor and idle rooler put the belt over the motor first then over the idle rooler .always make sure when you do this the dyer is unpluged and after your done plug it back and turn it on to make sure it runs correctly . if it runs ok put everything back together again.
