Question about Amana ARGS7650SS Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Amana ARGS7650SS Gas oven takes a long time to heat up, and then, in the middle of baking, the digital control panel goes blank and the oven goes off. Eventually, the panel will begin flashing and, with luck, we can light the oven and get on with the baking. What is wrong and what kind of a fix is it?

This is Amana's fault and is common on several oven models and types.
Your timer and clock control board has some loose solder joints and they can be re-attached by any competent electrical repair shop with soldering skills. TV shops can often be convinced to do this for you for a nominal fee.

You will have to place a amp meter over one ignitor wire and turn the oven on to bake.
If the amp draw is 3.3 amps or less, replace the ignitor.

This is a gas oven (self cleaning) and the oven part will not heat up. is there a pilot on the oven part of the oven as well as the top part. the top part of the oven will light but the oven won't heat up

There is a electronic igniter. There is on for the bake mode and one for broil.Just do a google search of apliance parts and you will find several places to view the part and some will have parts diagram. Most of the igniters are ceramic and only takes a hair line crack for them to quit working.

WHEN THE OVEN REACHES A CERTAIN TEMPERATURE, EVERYTHING SHUTS OFF. THE DIGITAL DISPLAY GOES BLANK. THE ENTIRE OVEN SHUTS OFF. WILL WORK AGAIN WHEN IT COOLS DOWN.

I had this same problem...I needed to replace the digital pad, cost about $200 online and took about an hour to replace. The heat from the oven wears out the electrical components in the pad...good luck!

Oven temperature

Replace the bake igniter in the bottom of the oven. It corrodes over time and as the resistance increases it finally reaches a point where the voltage is two low to open the gas valve. It's a ten minute job and the part cost $45-65.
