Have you considered NOT connecting the camera to the computer?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Having gone four months without a response, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader solved the problem.

I WANT TO TRANSFER VEDIO INTO MY COMPUTER FROM DCR-TRV285E BUT ITS NOT TRANSFERING

If you're using USB interface to transfer with Windows 7 or Vista Operating System, it is not compatible. Unfortunately, the USB streaming the Camcorder is not compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 Operating System. However, you can use either i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the Vista and Windows 7 Computer. I have provided a link where you can view the steps to transfer videos using i.LINK interface:

I have provided another link where you can view the steps to transfer videos using A/V interface:

Please let me know if you're using any other operating System. fixya.com/users/shajanrs

Your computer may have a problem. Try another computer - install the driver and then connect on it. In many cases with the new operating systems like Vista and Windows 7, the driver is not necessary to install - just plug it in and it should recognize the camera as another drive to access your pictures.

Need driver for panasonic nv-gs27

You might be connecting the Camcorder using USB interface. The drivers for USB streaming is not available for Vista and Windows 7..
Operating System also matters..
If you're using XP OS, you can install the driver from supplied CD and use Windows Movie Maker to transfer the recordings using USB interface.
Vista, Windows 7 - You need to use i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer the recording. When using i.LINK with Vista, you can use the Picture Motion Browser software.
I think this will definitely help you to connect the Camcorder..

Trying to download my pictures from Canon Powershot A430 onto my new laptop Windows 7. Downloaded the disk and now trying without success to download my pictures onto the computer. Help??

Supported windows Operating system Windows 98 Second edition(SE)
Windows Me
Windows 2000 Service pack 4
Windows XP SP 1 and SP 2 Canon PowerShot A430 has no update about the new driver software for windows 7 Try doing this direct transfer in your computer 1. Connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB cable of your camera. 2. Set the mode dial to (playback) and turn on the power.
The camera and computer will be able to communicate. 3. If there is no pop up window that has Canon CameraWindow, Click the [Start] menu and select [all Programs] or [Programs]. followed by [Canon Utilities], [Camera Window], [PowerShot-IXY-IXUS-DV 6] and [CameraWindow] 4. Download the images.
* Download the images using the camera or the computer.
* By default, the downloaded images are saved into the [My Pictures] folder. ** If the above process does not work you can just use the memory card of your camera and connect that on your laptop. (some laptop has built in card reader) The memory card works like a flash drive and you can just transfer files like transferring from one folder to another. ** Issue on the operating system compatibility.

Cannot download pictures on new laptop with Windows Vista

If your camera is not relatively new and you're running Vista, Vista may have problems seeing it. Unfortunately, this can't be corrected as Canon did not update the drivers for Vista for many of its older cameras. But there exists a good, if not better alternative way to download your photos. Please don't take the following as a sales pitch as it's not, but please see this blog article, as it describes the use of an inexpensive USB card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Need a free download for my sony cyber shot dsc-w55 to download pictures on my computer

You do not need any Driver or Software to transfer the images from the Camera to the Computer.

1. Set the USB Connection or Transfer mode setting in the Camera menu to Mass Storage or Normal .

2. Connect the Camera to the Computer using the supplied USB cable or any USB cable.

3. The Computer will recognize the Camera (make sure that the recording media containing the pictures (Memory Stick) is inserted in the Camera).

4. Click the Start button and then click the "My Computer" icon (for XP Operating System and for Vista or Windows 7 it will be "Computer" icon).

5. In the "My Computer" or "Computer" window, click the icon that represents the Camera.

6. Click the "DCIM" folder and drag it to the desktop screen of the Computer to transfer the images from the Camera to the Computer.

However, you may download the supplied Picture Motion Browser software for the Camera from this Link.

I have a belkin easy transfer cable. How do i transfer photo's

On the old computer, run Vista's "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" to write one large file onto the old computer. The "export" file will contain your pictures.

Copy, via the transfer-cable, that one file to the new computer.

Run the "import" function of the Windows 7 Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to read the copied file.

DX3500 Kodak software will not run in Windows Vista

Use a memory card in the camera, then use a generic USB memory card reader to transfer your pictures off the memory card. Camera USB cord drivers are always a pain to use.
